في مشهدٍ أعاد إلى الأذهان كوارث الزلازل المدمّرة التي عاشتها تركيا، ضرب زلزال قوي بلغت شدته 6.1 درجة، مساء أمس (الاثنين)، منطقة سينديرجي التابعة لمحافظة بالق أسير غرب البلاد، متسببًا في حالة ذعر بين السكان واهتزاز المباني في عدد من المدن الكبرى.
وبحسب مركز الأبحاث الألماني لعلوم الأرض، فإن الهزة وقعت على عمق 10 كيلومترات فقط، ما جعلها محسوسة بوضوح في مدن كبرى مثل إسطنبول وإزميت، بينما استمرت الهزات الارتدادية لدقائق قليلة بعد الزلزال الرئيسي.
وأكد وزير الداخلية التركي علي يرليكايا أن فرق الإنقاذ والطوارئ باشرت عملها فوراً في المناطق المتضررة، مضيفاً في بيان رسمي: «منذ اللحظة الأولى، انتشرت فرق آفاد في الميدان بالتنسيق مع الجهات المحلية لتقييم الأضرار وضمان سلامة المواطنين».
وأوضحت وكالة إدارة الكوارث والطوارئ (آفاد) أن الزلزال وقع عند الساعة 10:48 مساءً بالتوقيت المحلي (19:48 بتوقيت غرينتش)، دون أن تسجل خسائر بشرية حتى الآن، بينما تعمل الفرق الفنية على فحص سلامة البنى التحتية في القرى والبلدات المجاورة.
كما بثت وكالة الأنباء التركية الخاصة «دي إتش إيه» صوراً تُظهر انهيار مبنى واحد على الأقل وتضرر منشآت في منطقة سينديرجي، في وقتٍ أخلت فيه السلطات عدداً من المنازل احترازاً من وقوع هزات لاحقة.
ويُعد هذا الزلزال الثاني من نوعه خلال بضعة أشهر في المنطقة نفسها، بعدما شهدت بالق أسير في أغسطس الماضي هزة مماثلة تسببت بمقتل شخص وإصابة 29 آخرين. ويستحضر السكان بقلق مأساة زلزال فبراير 2023 الذي ضرب جنوب البلاد وأودى بحياة أكثر من 53 ألف شخص، في واحدة من أعنف الكوارث الطبيعية بتاريخ تركيا الحديث.
In a scene that recalled the devastating earthquake disasters experienced by Turkey, a strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck the Sindirgi area of Balıkesir Province in western Turkey last night (Monday), causing panic among residents and shaking buildings in several major cities.
According to the German Research Center for Geosciences, the tremor occurred at a depth of only 10 kilometers, making it clearly felt in major cities such as Istanbul and Izmit, while aftershocks continued for a few minutes after the main earthquake.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that rescue and emergency teams immediately began their work in the affected areas, adding in an official statement: "From the very first moment, AFAD teams spread out in the field in coordination with local authorities to assess the damage and ensure the safety of citizens."
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) stated that the earthquake occurred at 10:48 PM local time (19:48 GMT), with no reported human casualties so far, while technical teams are working to check the safety of infrastructure in nearby villages and towns.
The private Turkish news agency "DHA" also broadcast images showing at least one building collapsing and damage to facilities in the Sindirgi area, while authorities evacuated several homes as a precaution against potential aftershocks.
This is the second earthquake of its kind in the same region within a few months, after Balıkesir experienced a similar tremor last August that resulted in one death and 29 injuries. Residents anxiously recall the tragedy of the February 2023 earthquake that struck the south of the country, claiming the lives of more than 53,000 people, in one of the most severe natural disasters in modern Turkish history.
