A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck today off the eastern coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula.
The Russian Geophysical Research Center reported that the epicenter of the tremor was located about 111 kilometers from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of approximately 47.6 kilometers. According to initial estimates, the intensity of the shaking in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was 3 degrees on the modified Mercalli scale, and no tsunami warnings have been issued.
