عاش سكان مجمّع سكني في ولاية بافاريا الألمانية حالة من القلق بعد سلسلة من محاولات «رنّ الجرس والهرب» التي تكررت بشكل مزعج طوال ساعات الليل والنهار. ومع ازدياد البلاغات، استنجد الأهالي بالشرطة ظنّاً أن وراء الأمر مجموعة من المراهقين أو حتى جيران في حالة غير طبيعية.
رعب يتحوّل إلى ألغاز
إحدى الساكنات، وتُدعى ليزا (30 عاماً)، قالت لصحيفة بيلد إنها تجاهلت في البداية رنين الجرس، لكن حينما اتصلت بها قريبتها من الطابق العلوي لتؤكد أن جرس شقتها يرن أيضاً دون سبب، تصاعدت المخاوف من وجود «شبح مشاغب» أو متطفلين مجهولين.
الشرطة تكشف المفاجأة
حضرت الشرطة لموقع البلاغ وهي تتوقع أن تواجه مراهقين ضجرين، غير أن المفاجأة كانت أكبر مما تخيل الجميع، إذ ضبط الضباط «المجرم» متلبساً: حلزون بطيء الحركة كان يزحف على لوحة الأجراس، مسبّباً الفوضى الصوتية التي أرّقت المبنى بأكمله.
نهاية طريفة للذعر
بعد اكتشاف الحقيقة، قام رجال الشرطة بإبعاد الحلزون وإطلاق سراحه في العشب، في مشهد طريف أنهى أي شكوك حول أشباح أو لصوص.

The police arrived at the scene expecting to encounter bored teenagers, but the surprise was greater than anyone imagined, as the officers caught the "culprit" in the act: a slow-moving snail was crawling on the doorbell panel, causing the auditory chaos that disturbed the entire building.
A Humorous End to the Panic
After discovering the truth, the police officers removed the snail and released it into the grass, in a humorous scene that put to rest any doubts about ghosts or thieves.
