اضطرت طائرة تابعة لشركة «إير تشاينا»، كانت في طريقها من مطار هيثرو بلندن إلى بكين، إلى الهبوط الاضطراري في مطار نيجنفارتوفسك بمنطقة خانتي-مانسي الروسية في سيبيريا، صباح اليوم (الثلاثاء)، بعد تعطل أحد محركاتها.
وكانت الطائرة، من طراز بوينغ 777-39L (ER)، تحمل على متنها 265 راكباً، من بينهم 20 طفلاً، إضافة إلى 15 من أفراد الطاقم.
أقلعت الرحلة رقم CA856 من مطار هيثرو في الساعة 10:43 مساءً بتوقيت لندن (26 يوليو 2025)، وهبطت اضطراريّاً في نيجنفارتوفسك الساعة 8:17 صباحاً بالتوقيت المحلي (3:17 صباحاً بتوقيت المملكة المتحدة) بعد 5 ساعات و34 دقيقة من الطيران.
وأفادت هيئة الطيران المدني الروسية (روسافياتسيا) أن السبب الأولي للهبوط الاضطراري هو عطل في أحد المحركات، مما دفع الطاقم إلى إصدار إشارة طوارئ (PAN) وطلب الهبوط في أقرب مطار مناسب.
ووفقاً لتقارير، اختار الطيارون مطار نيجنفارتوفسك نظراً للأحوال الجوية المثالية وطول المدرج المناسب لاستيعاب طائرة كبيرة مثل بوينغ 777.
وأظهرت لقطات مصورة الطائرة تهبط بسلام في المدينة النائية الواقعة على بعد 1,435 ميلاً شرق موسكو، دون وقوع حالة ذعر بين الركاب، وفقاً لوسائل إعلام روسية.
وأكد دميتري كوشينكو، رئيس بلدية نيجنفارتوفسك، أن عدد الركاب والطاقم يبلغ 267 شخصاً، نافياً التقارير الأولية التي ذكرت وجود 311 راكباً.
وأشار إلى أن الركاب ظلوا عالقين على متن الطائرة بسبب تأخير في اتخاذ قرار بشأن عبورهم الحدود التي تسيطر عليها هيئة الأمن الفيدرالية الروسية (FSB).
وقال: «نعمل على حل مسألة إقامتهم المؤقتة في المحطة الدولية بالمطار، بانتظار وصول طائرة احتياطية من إير تشاينا في وقت لاحق اليوم».
وأضاف كوشينكو أن الوضع تحت السيطرة، ويتم التنسيق مع إدارة المطار وحكومة المنطقة لتلبية حاجات الركاب.
ومع ذلك، أفاد موقع «شوت» الروسي أنه لا توجد خطط للسماح للركاب بدخول مبنى المطار، ولم يتم توفير طعام أو مياه لهم، إذ يعتمد الركاب على ما تبقى من مؤن على متن الطائرة، فيما أكدت التقارير أن تكييف الهواء والمراحيض على متن الطائرة لا تزال تعمل.
وأثار الهبوط الاضطراري مخاوف بشأن ظروف الركاب، خصوصاً مع تحذيرات من صعوبة استيعاب هذا العدد الكبير من الركاب في منطقة انتظار المطار المحدودة.
وفي حال السماح للركاب بالنزول والإقامة في فنادق محلية، قد يواجه الركاب البريطانيون صعوبات إضافية لعدم قبول بطاقات الائتمان الغربية في روسيا بسبب العقوبات المفروضة.
يُشار إلى أن وزارة الخارجية البريطانية تحذر من السفر إلى روسيا بسبب المخاطر المرتبطة بالحرب في أوكرانيا، ولم يتضح بعد عدد المواطنين البريطانيين على متن الطائرة.
كما أعلنت هيئة الطيران الروسية أن شركة «إير تشاينا» سترسل طائرة احتياطية إلى نيجنفارتوفسك لنقل الركاب إلى بكين، مع توقعات بمغادرتها حوالى الساعة 4:00 عصراً بتوقيت لندن.
وأكدت التقارير أن خدمات المطار كانت في حالة تأهب قصوى، إذ تم توفير سلم هبوط مناسب فور وصول الطائرة، فيما أشارت مصادر إلى أن الفنيين المحليين في نيجنفارتوفسك قد لا يتمكنون من إصلاح الطائرة بسبب حجمها وتعقيد العطل.
وفي حين توقفت شركات الطيران البريطانية والغربية عن عبور الأجواء الروسية منذ بدء الحرب في أوكرانيا عام 2022، تواصل شركات الطيران الصينية مثل «إير تشاينا» استخدام المجال الجوي الروسي في رحلاتها بين المملكة المتحدة والصين.
ويُعد هبوط طائرة بريطانية الصنع في روسيا حدثاً نادراً بسبب التوترات الجيوسياسية، مما جعل خدمات المطار في حالة تأهب قصوى لاستقبال «الضيف غير المتوقع».
A China Eastern Airlines plane, en route from Heathrow Airport in London to Beijing, was forced to make an emergency landing at Nizhnevartovsk Airport in the Khanty-Mansi region of Russia in Siberia this morning (Tuesday) after one of its engines failed.
The aircraft, a Boeing 777-39L (ER), was carrying 265 passengers, including 20 children, in addition to 15 crew members.
Flight CA856 took off from Heathrow at 10:43 PM London time (July 26, 2025) and made an emergency landing in Nizhnevartovsk at 8:17 AM local time (3:17 AM UK time) after 5 hours and 34 minutes of flying.
The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) reported that the initial reason for the emergency landing was a malfunction in one of the engines, prompting the crew to issue a distress signal (PAN) and request to land at the nearest suitable airport.
According to reports, the pilots chose Nizhnevartovsk Airport due to the ideal weather conditions and the runway length suitable for accommodating a large aircraft like the Boeing 777.
Video footage showed the plane landing safely in the remote city located 1,435 miles east of Moscow, without causing panic among the passengers, according to Russian media.
Dmitry Kushchenko, the mayor of Nizhnevartovsk, confirmed that the number of passengers and crew totaled 267 people, denying initial reports that mentioned 311 passengers.
He noted that the passengers remained stranded on board the aircraft due to a delay in deciding on their crossing of the borders controlled by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
He said, "We are working on resolving their temporary accommodation at the airport's international terminal, awaiting the arrival of a backup aircraft from China Eastern later today."
Kushchenko added that the situation is under control, and coordination is ongoing with the airport management and regional government to meet the passengers' needs.
However, the Russian website "Shot" reported that there are no plans to allow passengers to enter the airport building, and no food or water has been provided to them, as passengers are relying on what remains of supplies on board the aircraft, while reports confirmed that the air conditioning and toilets on the plane are still operational.
The emergency landing raised concerns about the conditions of the passengers, especially with warnings about the difficulty of accommodating such a large number of passengers in the limited airport waiting area.
If passengers are allowed to disembark and stay in local hotels, British passengers may face additional difficulties due to the non-acceptance of Western credit cards in Russia due to imposed sanctions.
It is noted that the British Foreign Office warns against traveling to Russia due to risks associated with the war in Ukraine, and it is still unclear how many British citizens were on board the aircraft.
The Russian aviation authority also announced that China Eastern Airlines will send a backup aircraft to Nizhnevartovsk to transport the passengers to Beijing, with expectations of departure around 4:00 PM London time.
Reports confirmed that airport services were on high alert, as a suitable boarding ladder was provided immediately upon the aircraft's arrival, while sources indicated that local technicians in Nizhnevartovsk may not be able to repair the aircraft due to its size and the complexity of the malfunction.
While British and Western airlines have ceased crossing Russian airspace since the onset of the war in Ukraine in 2022, Chinese airlines like China Eastern continue to utilize Russian airspace for their flights between the UK and China.
The landing of a British-made aircraft in Russia is a rare event due to geopolitical tensions, which has put airport services on high alert to receive the "unexpected guest."
