حذرت الطوارئ الروسية من احتمال حدوث تسونامي في 3 مناطق بعد زلزال جديد في كامتشاتكا.
جاء ذلك بعد أن قال المركز الألماني لأبحاث علوم الأرض (جي.إف.زد) أن زلزالا بقوة 6.7 درجة هز جزر كوريل في روسيا اليوم (الأحد).
وقدر المركز قوة الزلزال في البداية عند 6.35 درجة. وأضاف المركز أن الزلزال كان على عمق 10 كيلومترات.
وذكرت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية أن قوة الزلزال بلغت سبع درجات.
وقبل أيام، ضربت أمواج تسونامي (الموجات البحرية الناجمة عن زلازل)، يتراوح ارتفاعها بين 3 و4 أمتار أجزاء من شبه جزيرة كامتشاتكا الروسية بعد زلزال بقوة 8.8 درجة على مقياس ريختر، ضرب المنطقة.
وعقب الزلزال والتسونامي في روسيا، أصدرت اليابان والولايات المتحدة والمكسيك والصين والإكوادور وبيرو ودول عدة مطلة أو واقعة في المحيط الهادئ تحذيرات من احتمال حدوث تسونامي.
Russian emergency services warned of the possibility of a tsunami in 3 regions following a new earthquake in Kamchatka.
This came after the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that a 6.7 magnitude earthquake shook the Kuril Islands in Russia today (Sunday).
The centre initially estimated the earthquake's magnitude at 6.35. It added that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake's magnitude reached seven.
Days earlier, tsunami waves (ocean waves caused by earthquakes) ranging from 3 to 4 meters in height struck parts of the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit the region.
Following the earthquake and tsunami in Russia, Japan, the United States, Mexico, China, Ecuador, Peru, and several other Pacific-facing or located countries issued tsunami warnings.
