رفعت وكالة الأرصاد الجوية اليابانية، اليوم، جميع التحذيرات من احتمال وقوع موجات مد عاتية «تسونامي» في جزء كبير من ساحلها على المحيط الهادئ بعد الزلزال القوي الذي وقع في «كامتشاتكا» قبالة الشرق الأقصى الروسي يوم أمس الأربعاء.
وكانت الوكالة قد خفضت أمس مستوى تحذيراتها من وقوع موجات «تسونامي» في جزء كبير من البلاد لكنها كانت قد أبقته في المناطق الشمالية.
يذكر أن دولاً عدة من بينها الفلبين وإندونيسيا واليابان وكندا والولايات المتحدة، وجزر هاواي، وأجزاء من جزر ألوشيان في ألاسكا كانت قد أعلنت تحذيرات من حدوث موجات «تسونامي» على جزء من سواحلها البحرية، ودعت السكان لإخلاء هذه المناطق بسبب تبعات زلزال «كامتشاتكا»، الذي بلغت قوته 8.8 درجة على سلم ريختر، ليكون أقوى زلزال عرفته المنطقة منذ عام 1952.
The Japan Meteorological Agency lifted all warnings of potential tsunami waves along a large part of its Pacific coast today following the strong earthquake that occurred in "Kamchatka" off the Russian Far East yesterday, Wednesday.
The agency had lowered its tsunami warning levels in much of the country yesterday but had maintained them in the northern regions.
It is worth noting that several countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Canada, the United States, Hawaii, and parts of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, had issued warnings of potential tsunami waves along parts of their coastlines and urged residents to evacuate these areas due to the repercussions of the "Kamchatka" earthquake, which registered 8.8 on the Richter scale, making it the strongest earthquake the region has experienced since 1952.
