شهد مطار لوس أنجلوس الدولي حادثاً جوياً نادراً، بعد أن اضطُرت طائرة تابعة لشركة دلتا الأمريكية للطيران للعودة فوراً إلى المطار، عقب اندلاع النيران في أحد محركاتها بعد وقت قصير من الإقلاع، بحسب «أكونوميك تايمز» الأمريكية، و«ذا بيبول».
وأظهر مقطع فيديو التقطه مصور الطائرات المعروف باسم «L.A. FLIGHTS»، لحظة تصاعد ألسنة اللهب من المحرك المتضرر بينما كانت الطائرة تواصل صعودها في السماء، وانتشرت اللقطات بسرعة عبر وسائل الإعلام ومواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، ما أثار موجة من القلق بين المتابعين.
وفور اكتشاف الخلل، قرر الطيارون العودة إلى مطار لوس أنجلوس الدولي واتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة للهبوط الطارئ. وقد تمكنت الطائرة من الهبوط بسلام دون وقوع أي إصابات بين الركاب أو الطاقم، وتم توجيهها إلى البوابة مباشرة دون ظهور أي مؤشرات حريق خارجية عند الوصول إلى مبنى الركاب.
وأكدت شركة دلتا أن سلامة الركاب والطاقم كانت على رأس أولويات الطاقم الجوي، مشيرة إلى أن تحقيقاً داخلياً قد بدأ لمعرفة أسباب الخلل الفني واتخاذ الإجراءات التصحيحية اللازمة.
يذكر أن الرحلة رقم 446 كانت متجهة من لوس أنجلوس إلى مدينة أتلانتا وعلى متنها 226 راكباً و9 من أفراد الطاقم، وأفادت شركة الطيران بأن المحرك الأيسر للطائرة من طراز بوينج 767 تعرض لعطل فني في الجو أدى إلى اشتعال النيران فيه.

A video captured by the well-known aircraft photographer "L.A. FLIGHTS" showed the moment flames erupted from the damaged engine while the plane continued its ascent into the sky. The footage quickly spread across media and social networks, causing a wave of concern among viewers.
Upon discovering the malfunction, the pilots decided to return to Los Angeles International Airport and take the necessary measures for an emergency landing. The aircraft was able to land safely without any injuries among the passengers or crew, and it was directed to the gate directly with no signs of fire visible upon arrival at the terminal building.
Delta Airlines confirmed that the safety of the passengers and crew was the top priority for the flight crew, noting that an internal investigation had begun to determine the causes of the technical malfunction and to take the necessary corrective actions.
It is worth mentioning that flight number 446 was headed from Los Angeles to Atlanta with 226 passengers and 9 crew members on board. The airline reported that the left engine of the Boeing 767 experienced a technical failure in the air that led to the fire.
