أطلق المؤسس المشارك لتويتر، إكس حاليًا جاك دورسي، تطبيق مراسلة جديدًا يُدعى Bitchat، وهو تطبيق يعتمد بالكامل على تقنية البلوتوث للتواصل بين الأجهزة دون الحاجة إلى الإنترنت أو الشبكات الخلوية.
ويعتمد التطبيق على تقنية البلوتوث المنخفض الطاقة Bluetooth Low Energy ضمن شبكات مِشبكية (Mesh Networks) لإرسال رسائل مشفرة مباشرة بين الأجهزة القريبة، مما يوفر وسيلة اتصال آمنة، ومقاومة لتعطل البنى التحتية المركزية.
وقال دورسي في منشور له عبر حسابه في منصة GitHub: «إن Bitchat يلبّي الحاجة إلى وسيلة تواصل خاصة ومرنة لا تعتمد على البنية التحتية المركزية. ومن خلال استخدام الشبكات المِشبكية المنخفضة الطاقة عبر البلوتوث، يتيح التطبيق التواصل المباشر بين الأشخاص ضمن النطاق الجغرافي القريب، مع إمكانية تمديد نطاق الإرسال من خلال ميزة إعادة توجيه الرسائل تلقائيًا».
ويُظهر التطبيق في صوره الأولية، التي نشرها دورسي، أنه لا يعتمد على إنشاء حسابات أو خوادم مركزية أو جمع بيانات المستخدمين، بل يقدّم مزايا خصوصية متقدمة؛ مثل القنوات المحمية بكلمة مرور، ووضع خاص يُسمى «Panic Mode»، يمكّن المستخدم من حذف كافة البيانات فورًا بمجرد النقر 3 مرات على الشعار.
ويُقارن «Bitchat» بتطبيقات مراسلة مماثلة عبر البلوتوث مثل Bridgefy، وهي تطبيقات تُستخدم عادةً لتجنب الرقابة والتتبع. ويوفر تطبيق Bridgefy مدى يصل إلى 100 متر، في حين يقدّم Bitchat نطاقًا يتجاوز 300 متر، مع خطط مستقبلية لتوسيع النطاق وتحسين السرعة عبر دعم Wi-Fi Direct.
ويتوفّر التطبيق حاليًا لمجموعة محدودة من المختبرين عبر منصة TestFlight في متجر آب ستور التابع لأبل، لكن السعة وصلت إلى الحد الأقصى البالغ 10,000 مستخدم. وأكد دورسي أن التطبيق ما زال قيد المراجعة استعدادًا لإطلاقه الرسمي لاحقًا.
Twitter's co-founder, currently known as X, Jack Dorsey, has launched a new messaging app called Bitchat, which relies entirely on Bluetooth technology for communication between devices without the need for the internet or cellular networks.
The app uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology within Mesh Networks to send encrypted messages directly between nearby devices, providing a secure means of communication that is resistant to the failure of centralized infrastructure.
Dorsey stated in a post on his GitHub account: "Bitchat meets the need for a private and flexible communication method that does not rely on centralized infrastructure. By using low-energy mesh networks via Bluetooth, the app enables direct communication between people within close geographical range, with the ability to extend the transmission range through an automatic message forwarding feature."
The app, in its initial images shared by Dorsey, shows that it does not require account creation, central servers, or user data collection, but offers advanced privacy features; such as password-protected channels and a special mode called "Panic Mode," which allows users to delete all data immediately by tapping the logo three times.
Bitchat is compared to similar Bluetooth messaging apps like Bridgefy, which are typically used to avoid censorship and tracking. The Bridgefy app provides a range of up to 100 meters, while Bitchat offers a range exceeding 300 meters, with future plans to expand the range and improve speed through Wi-Fi Direct support.
The app is currently available to a limited group of testers via the TestFlight platform in Apple's App Store, but the capacity has reached the maximum limit of 10,000 users. Dorsey confirmed that the app is still under review in preparation for its official launch later.
