شهد بركان ليوتوبي لاكي-لاكي، الواقع في جزيرة فلوريس السياحية شرق بالي، ثوراناً عنيفاً، حيث أطلق عموداً من الرماد يبلغ ارتفاعه 10 كيلومترات فوق قمته.
أدى هذا الحدث إلى إلغاء العشرات من الرحلات الجوية من وإلى بالي، مما تسبب في اضطرابات كبيرة للمسافرين.
وفقاً لوكالة البراكين الإندونيسية، وقع الثوران في الساعة 17:35 بالتوقيت المحلي، مما دفع السلطات إلى رفع مستوى التحذير من الكوارث إلى أعلى درجة في نظام التنبيه الرباعي.
وأوصت الوكالة السكان والسياح بتجنب أي نشاط ضمن دائرة 7 كيلومترات حول فوهة البركان، محذرة من احتمال حدوث فيضانات طينية بركانية (لاهار) في حال هطول أمطار غزيرة.
ولم تُسجل أي تقارير فورية عن أضرار أو ضحايا، لكن قرية واحدة على الأقل اضطرت للإجلاء، مع تسجيل هطول رماد في عدة قرى خارج منطقة الحظر. وحثت السلطات السكان على ارتداء الكمامات لحمايتهم من الرماد البركاني، مع استمرار رصد الاهتزازات التي تشير إلى نشاط بركاني مستمر.
من جانبه، ألغت عدة شركات طيران رحلاتها من وإلى بالي، بما في ذلك «فيرجن أستراليا» التي ألغت رحلات بين بريزبن وملبورن وبالي، و«جيتستار» التي ألغت أربع رحلات من أستراليا، و«إير نيوزيلندا» التي أوقفت رحلتين بين بالي وأوكلاند.
كما ألغت «إير إنديا»، و«تايجر إير»، و«جونياو إيرلاينز» رحلاتها، فيما أكدت «كانتاس» أنها تراقب الوضع عن كثب.
كما تأثرت رحلات داخلية لشركة «إير آسيا» إلى لابوان باجو في فلوريس.
وأوضح أحد موظفي خدمة العملاء في مطار نغوراه راي في بالي أن المطار يعمل بشكل طبيعي، لكن إلغاء الرحلات يعتمد على المسارات وشركات الطيران المتأثرة بالثوران.
بركان ليوتوبي لاكي-لاكي، الذي يبلغ ارتفاعه 1584 متراً، سبق أن ثار عدة مرات في نوفمبر الماضي، مما أسفر عن مقتل 9 أشخاص وإجلاء الآلاف.
يُطلق على البركان اسم «لاكي-لاكي» (الرجل بالإندونيسية)، وهو متجاور مع بركان «بيرمبوان» (المرأة) الأكثر هدوءاً والأعلى ارتفاعاً (1703 أمتار)، وتقع إندونيسيا على «حلقة النار» في المحيط الهادئ، مما يجعلها عرضة للزلازل والثورات البركانية المتكررة.
The Laitubi Lucky-Lucky volcano, located on the tourist island of Flores east of Bali, has erupted violently, sending a column of ash 10 kilometers high above its summit.
This event led to the cancellation of dozens of flights to and from Bali, causing significant disruptions for travelers.
According to the Indonesian Volcanology Agency, the eruption occurred at 17:35 local time, prompting authorities to raise the disaster warning level to the highest degree in the four-tier alert system.
The agency recommended that residents and tourists avoid any activities within a 7-kilometer radius around the volcano's crater, warning of the possibility of volcanic mudflows (lahar) in the event of heavy rainfall.
No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been recorded, but at least one village had to be evacuated, with ashfall reported in several villages outside the exclusion zone. Authorities urged residents to wear masks to protect themselves from volcanic ash, as monitoring of tremors indicating ongoing volcanic activity continues.
In response, several airlines canceled their flights to and from Bali, including Virgin Australia, which canceled flights between Brisbane, Melbourne, and Bali, Jetstar, which canceled four flights from Australia, and Air New Zealand, which suspended two flights between Bali and Auckland.
Air India, Tigerair, and Juneyao Airlines also canceled their flights, while Qantas confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation.
Domestic flights by AirAsia to Labuan Bajo in Flores were also affected.
A customer service representative at Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali explained that the airport is operating normally, but flight cancellations depend on the routes and airlines affected by the eruption.
The Laitubi Lucky-Lucky volcano, which stands 1,584 meters tall, has erupted several times last November, resulting in the deaths of 9 people and the evacuation of thousands.
The volcano is named "Lucky-Lucky" (man in Indonesian) and is adjacent to the quieter and taller Permpuan volcano (woman) at 1,703 meters. Indonesia is located on the "Ring of Fire" in the Pacific, making it prone to earthquakes and frequent volcanic eruptions.
