في الصورة التي نشرتها ميشيل أوباما، ظهر زوجها باراك أوباما وابنتاهما ماليا وساشا، وذلك بمناسبة عيد ميلاد ساشا الرابع والعشرين.
الصورة التي بدت فيها العائلة متقاربة ومبتسمة لاقت انتشارًا واسعًا، واعتبرها عدد من المتابعين ردًا مباشرًا على الأقاويل التي تداولتها بعض وسائل الإعلام حول خلافات مزعومة بين الزوجين، خصوصا بعد غياب ميشيل عن بعض المناسبات التي حضرها باراك بمفرده، منها جنازة الرئيس الأسبق جيمي كارتر.
وكتبت ميشيل في تعليقها على الصورة: «عيد ميلاد سعيد يا حبيبتي ساشا! لا أصدق أن السنوات مضت بهذه السرعة. فخورة بك دائمًا. أحبك»، وأرفقت منشورها بعدة رموز تعبّر عن المحبة والاحتفال.
وكانت ميشيل قد تحدثت بصراحة أخيرا حول تلك الشائعات خلال ظهورها في بودكاست «مذكرات رئيس تنفيذي»، الذي نُشر نهاية أبريل، مؤكدة أن علاقتها بباراك مبنية على الثقة والوضوح. وقالت: «إذا كنت أمر بمشكلة، فلن يكون ذلك سرًا. لا أخفي شيئًا، وسأتحدث بوضوح إذا لزم الأمر».
وفي سياق آخر، علّقت ميشيل على استخدام ابنتها الكبرى ماليا اسمها الأول والأوسط فقط «ماليا آن» في مشروعها الإخراجي الأول المشارك في مهرجان «صندانس» 2024، موضحة في بودكاست آخر بعنوان «احتفالات الأخوة» أنها وابنتها ساشا تسعيان لبناء مسيرتهما بعيدًا عن الأضواء العائلية. وأضافت: «من حقهما أن تُقيّم إنجازاتهما وفق جهدهما وليس بناءً على ارتباطهما بنا».

Recently, Michelle spoke candidly about those rumors during her appearance on the podcast "The CEO Diaries," which was released at the end of April, confirming that her relationship with Barack is based on trust and clarity. She said: "If I'm going through a problem, it won't be a secret. I don't hide anything, and I will speak clearly if necessary."
In another context, Michelle commented on her eldest daughter Malia using only her first and middle name "Malia Ann" in her first production project participating in the 2024 Sundance Festival, explaining in another podcast titled "Sibling Celebrations" that she and her daughter Sasha are striving to build their careers away from family spotlight. She added: "They have the right to have their achievements evaluated based on their efforts, not based on their connection to us."
