أعلنت وزارة الداخلية في تركيا، الثلاثاء، سقوط قتيل في زلزال بقوة 5.8 درجة ضرب قبالة سواحل مرمريس في البلاد.
وكشف وزير الداخلية التركي علي يرلي كايا مقتل فتاة وإصابة 69 شخصاً بجروح في الزلزال الذي ضرب جنوب غرب تركيا.
وأفاد الوزير أن «مراهقة تبلغ الرابعة عشرة نقلت إلى المستشفى إثر نوبة ذعر لكنها للأسف فارقت الحياة». وحدد مركز الهزة على عمق 68 كيلومتراً.
وأشار المسؤول التركي إلى أن 69 شخصاً «قفزوا من علو مرتفع بسبب الذعر» فأصيبوا بجروح في محافظة مغلة حيث مرمريس، مشيراً إلى أن الزلزال لم يؤد إلى تدمير أي مبنى سكني.
وقال وزير التخطيط العمراني التركي مراد كوروم «فرقنا تقيّم الأضرار وتواصل عملياتها على الأرض. ولم يسجل أي دمار حتى الآن».
وتقع الكثير من المجمعات السياحية الساحلية التركية مثل مرمريس وفتحية وبودروم في محافظة مغلة التي استقبلت 3,7 ملايين سائح أجنبي في 2024 وفق وكالة أنباء «الأناضول» الرسمية.
فيما أكد المركز الأوروبي المتوسطي لرصد الزلازل إن زلزالا بقوة 6.2 درجة هز جزر دوديكانيسا اليونانية قرب حدودها مع تركيا، فيما شعر به عدد من سكان الدول المجاورة، ومنها مصر واليونان وقبرص.
وأضاف المركز أن الزلزال كان على عمق 68 كيلومتراً.
من جانبه، قال المعهد القومي للبحوث الفلكية والجيوفيزيقية في مصر، أن زلزالاً وقع جنوب الحدود التركية.
The Turkish Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that one person was killed in a 5.8 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Marmaris in the country.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya revealed that a girl was killed and 69 people were injured in the earthquake that hit southwestern Turkey.
The minister reported that "a 14-year-old teenager was taken to the hospital after a panic attack, but unfortunately, she passed away." The epicenter of the quake was determined to be at a depth of 68 kilometers.
The Turkish official noted that 69 people "jumped from a height due to panic," resulting in injuries in Mugla province where Marmaris is located, adding that the earthquake did not cause any residential building to collapse.
Turkish Minister of Urban Planning Murad Kurum stated, "Our teams are assessing the damage and continuing their operations on the ground. No destruction has been recorded so far."
Many Turkish coastal tourist resorts, such as Marmaris, Fethiye, and Bodrum, are located in Mugla province, which welcomed 3.7 million foreign tourists in 2024, according to the official Anadolu Agency.
Meanwhile, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre confirmed that a 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook the Greek Dodecanese Islands near its border with Turkey, which was felt by some residents of neighboring countries, including Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus.
The center added that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 68 kilometers.
For its part, the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt stated that an earthquake occurred south of the Turkish border.
