اندلع حريق مروع في حي هوهنفيلده بمدينة هامبورغ الألمانية داخل مستشفى «مارين كرانكنهاوس» أحد أبرز المستشفيات الكنسية في شمال البلاد، الذي نشب في الطابق الأرضي بجناح رعاية المسنين، ليمتد بسرعة إلى الطابق الأول، مخلفاً سحابة دخان كثيفة اجتاحت جميع طوابق المبنى المتضرر.
وأسفرت الحادثة المأساوية عن وفاة 3 مرضى، جميعهم من البالغين، وإصابة أكثر من 50 شخصاً، بينهم اثنان في حالة حرجة تهدد حياتهم، و16 بجروح خطيرة، و36 بإصابات طفيفة.
بدأ الحريق بعد منتصف ليل السبت/ صباح الأحد، ما دفع فرق الإطفاء إلى التحرك بسرعة للسيطرة على النيران وإجلاء المرضى والطواقم الطبية. ووفقاً لمتحدث باسم إدارة الإطفاء الألمانية، تم نشر قوة كبيرة تضم نحو 160 فرداً من رجال الإطفاء، الذين استخدموا سلالم دوارة ومحمولة وأغطية واقية من الدخان لإنقاذ المرضى، خصوصاً أولئك الذين كانوا يطلبون المساعدة من النوافذ.
وتمكنت السلطات الألمانية من إخماد الحريق في غضون 20 دقيقة تقريباً، لكن الدخان الكثيف استلزم إخلاء أجزاء من المستشفى ونقل بعض المصابين إلى مستشفيات مجاورة أو علاجهم في قسم الطوارئ بالمستشفى نفسه.
ولم يتم الكشف بعد عن السبب الدقيق للحريق، لكن التحقيقات جارية لتحديد مصدره، في حين أشار المتحدث إلى أن الدخان الناتج عن الحريق كان العامل الأكثر خطورة، حيث امتد إلى جميع الطوابق الأربعة للمبنى المتضرر، ما زاد من صعوبة عمليات الإنقاذ.

A horrific fire broke out in the Hohefeld neighborhood of Hamburg, Germany, inside the "Marienkrankenhaus," one of the prominent church hospitals in the north of the country. The fire started on the ground floor in the elderly care wing and quickly spread to the first floor, leaving a thick cloud of smoke that engulfed all floors of the affected building.
The tragic incident resulted in the death of 3 patients, all of whom were adults, and injured more than 50 people, including two in critical condition threatening their lives, 16 with serious injuries, and 36 with minor injuries.
The fire began shortly after midnight on Saturday/Sunday, prompting firefighting teams to act quickly to control the flames and evacuate patients and medical staff. According to a spokesperson for the German fire department, a large force of about 160 firefighters was deployed, who used ladders and smoke protection covers to rescue patients, especially those who were calling for help from the windows.
The German authorities managed to extinguish the fire in about 20 minutes; however, the thick smoke necessitated the evacuation of parts of the hospital and the transfer of some injured individuals to nearby hospitals or treatment in the emergency department of the hospital itself.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed, but investigations are ongoing to determine its source. The spokesperson noted that the smoke resulting from the fire was the most dangerous factor, as it spread to all four floors of the affected building, complicating rescue operations.
The "Marienkrankenhaus" is one of the largest church hospitals in northern Germany, with around 600 beds, and it receives more than 93,000 patients annually, providing advanced medical services in various specialties, including elderly care. It is part of a leading network of hospitals in Hamburg.
