The club Al-Khulood terminated its contract with Romanian coach Cosmin Contra by mutual agreement just three weeks after signing the contract with him, through a statement published by the club's official account on the platform "X".
The statement read as follows: "The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Khulood Club, Mohammed Al-Khalifa, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Romanian coach Cosmin Contra, after agreeing to end the contractual relationship between the two parties by mutual consent."
The statement continued: "The club president valued the high professionalism demonstrated by coach Contra and his understanding of the club's interests, also thanking all members of the assistant coaching staff, wishing them success in their upcoming endeavors."
It concluded: "For his part, coach Cosmin Contra expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the management of Al-Khulood Club, headed by Mohammed Al-Khalifa, wishing the team continued success and achievement in the coming seasons."
Al-Khulood Club had contracted with coach Cosmin to replace the Algerian Nourredine Zakri, due to Cosmin's good experience in the Roshan Saudi League, having coached Al-Ittihad in the 2021-2022 season and being close to winning the title, as well as coaching Damak in 2023-2024.
After the ownership of the club was transferred to the new American owner Ben Harburg, the contract with the Romanian coach was canceled as it did not align with the new owner's aspirations for the upcoming phase, and English coach Des Buckingham was brought in, who is close to taking over the first team coaching position at the club.
