أعلن رئيس نابولي الإيطالي أوريليو دي لورينتيس أنّ النادي الجنوبي سيحصل على ملعب جديد خلال ثلاث سنوات، مؤكّداً أنّ المشروع سينفّذ في منطقة كارامانيكو غرب نابولي، بدلاً من باغنولي، لاقترابها من محطة مترو مستقبلية.
وعبّر دي لورينتيس عن تفاؤله بمستقبل نابولي، لكنه انتقد «نظام كرة قدم فاشل يعيق التطور»، محذراً من أن استمرار الوضع قد يؤدي إلى تراجع اللعبة بالكامل خلال سنوات قليلة.
وأشار إلى أنّهُ لن يُعيد تأهيل ملعب دييجو أرماندو مارادونا، الّذي تسعى السلطات لتطويره ضمن ملف استضافة يورو 2032، ما يُنذر بصدام محتمل مع المجلس المحلي الرافض حتى وقت قريب لموقع الملعب الجديد المقترح.
يذكر أن ملعب دييجو أرماندو ماردونا يعتبر من الأماكن التاريخية في مدينة نابولي الواقعة جنوب إيطاليا، إذ تم افتتاحه في عام 1952 بسعة إجمالية قدرها 90 ألف مشجع، وشهد استضافة عدة أحداث رياضية تاريخيه كان أبرزها مشاركته أحد الملاعب المستضيفة لنهائيات كأس العالم 1990

He pointed out that he will not renovate the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, which the authorities are seeking to develop as part of the bid to host Euro 2032, signaling a potential clash with the local council that had recently opposed the proposed site for the new stadium.
