استعاد منتخب اليابان نغمة الانتصارات الغائبة عنه في الجولتين الماضيتين بتعادله مع السعودية وخسارته أمام أستراليا، وتحليقه في صدارة المجموعة الثالثة لتصفيات الآسيوية المؤهلة لبطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم عام 2026، بعدما رفع رصيده إلى 23 نقطة، إثر فوزه على المنتخب الإندونيسي بنتيجة 6-0، إذ افتتح منتخب «الساموراي»، الذي حجز مقعده رسميا في المونديال المقبل منذ أشهر عدة، التسجيل عن طريق دايتشي كامادا في الدقيقة 15، قبل أن يضيف تاكيفوسا كوبو الهدف الثاني في الدقيقة 19، وعاد كامادا لهز الشباك مرة أخرى، مسجلاً الهدف الثالث لليابان وهدفه الشخصي الثاني في الدقيقة السادسة من الوقت المحتسب بدلاً من الضائع للشوط الأول، فيما أضاف ريويا موريشيتا وشوتو ماشينو الهدفين الرابع والخامس في الدقيقتين 55 و58 على الترتيب، واختتم ماو هوسويا مهرجان الأهداف اليابانية بإحرازه الهدف السادس لأصحاب الأرض في الدقيقة 79.
في المقابل، توقف رصيد منتخب إندونيسيا، الذي ضمن تواجده في الملحق المؤهل للمونديال منذ الجولة الماضية، عند 12 نقطة في المركز الرابع.
ويتأهل أول منتخبين من كل مجموعة من المجموعات الثلاث بالمرحلة الثالثة للتصفيات لنهائيات كأس العالم 2026 مباشرة، في حين ينتقل المنتخبان الحاصلان على المركزين الثالث والرابع من أجل خوض الدور الرابع للتنافس على بطاقتين إلى كأس العالم وبطاقة إلى الملحق العالمي.

The Japan national team regained the winning rhythm that had been missing in the last two rounds with a draw against Saudi Arabia and a loss to Australia, soaring to the top of Group C in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after raising its tally to 23 points, following its victory over the Indonesian team with a score of 6-0. The "Samurai" team, which officially secured its spot in the upcoming World Cup several months ago, opened the scoring through Daichi Kamada in the 15th minute, before Takefusa Kubo added the second goal in the 19th minute. Kamada struck again, scoring Japan's third goal and his second personal goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time in the first half. Ryuya Morishita and Shuto Machino added the fourth and fifth goals in the 55th and 58th minutes, respectively, while Mao Hosoya capped off the Japanese goal fest by scoring the sixth goal for the hosts in the 79th minute.
On the other hand, the Indonesian team, which secured its place in the World Cup playoff since the last round, remained at 12 points in fourth place.
The top two teams from each of the three groups in the third round of the qualifiers will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup finals, while the teams finishing in third and fourth place will move on to the fourth round to compete for two spots in the World Cup and one spot in the global playoff.
