تتجه أنظار عشاق الكرة السعودية نحو استاد ستيت فارم عند الساعة 5:15 من صباح اليوم (الأحد) لمتابعة المواجهة المرتقبة التي تجمع منتخبنا الوطني الأول لكرة القدم بمنتخب المكسيك في ربع نهائي الكأس الذهبية (الكونكاكاف) المقامة حالياً في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
يدخل المنتخب السعودي هذا اللقاء بعد أن احتل المركز الثاني في مجموعته الرابعة برصيد 4 نقاط حصدها من فوز على هايتي وخسارة من منتخب أمريكا وتعادل مع منتخب ترينداد وتوباغو، وأحرز هجوم الأخضر هدفين واستقبلت شباكه مثلهما، ويعتمد مدرب منتخبنا هيرفي رينارد على طريقة 4–2–3–1 بوجود صالح الشهري في خط المقدمة وخلفه الثلاثي فراس البريكان وأيمن يحيى وعبدالرحمن العبود، فيما يوجد في حراسة المرمى الحارس نواف العقيدي وأمامه رباعي الدفاع علي مجرشي وعبدالإله العمري وعبدالله مادو ونواف بوشل، وفي المحور الثنائي سعود عبدالحميد وزياد الجهني.
ورغم صعوبة اللقاء الذي يعد اختباراً حقيقياً لنجوم الأخضر إلا أن الأخضر السعودي قادر على تجاوز المنتخب المكسيكي، لاسيما بوجود أسماء مميزة في قائمة الاحتياط يتقدمهم الثنائي مروان الصحفي وفيصل الغامدي وعبدالله آل سالم وتركي العمار.
وفي الجانب الآخر يدخل منتخب المكسيك هذا اللقاء بعد أن تصدر جدول الترتيب للمجموعة الأولى برصيد 7 نقاط حصدها من انتصارين على جمهورية الدومينيكان وعلى سورينام فيما تعادل مع كوستاريكا، وأحرز هجومه 5 أهداف فيما استقبلت شباكه هدفين، ويعتمد مدربه خافيير أغيري على طريقة 4–2–3–1 بوجود راؤول خيمينيز في خط المقدمة، ورغم أن المنتخب المكسيكي سيفتقد لخدمات مدافعه الهداف سيزار مونتيس بسبب الإيقاف إلا أنه يملك أسماء بارزة، يأتي في مقدمتهم مهاجم القادسية السعودي جوليان كينونيس الذي يعرف نجوم الأخضر جيداً.

The eyes of Saudi football fans are directed towards State Farm Stadium at 5:15 AM today (Sunday) to follow the anticipated match that brings our national football team face to face with the Mexican team in the quarter-finals of the Gold Cup (CONCACAF) currently taking place in the United States.
The Saudi team enters this match after finishing second in Group D with 4 points, which they earned from a victory over Haiti, a loss to the USA, and a draw with Trinidad and Tobago.
