أعرب رئيس الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم ياسر المسحل عن اعتزازه بمشاركة المنتخب السعودي الأول لكرة القدم في بطولة الكأس الذهبية 2025، التي تستضيفها الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا خلال الفترة من 14 يونيو حتى 6 يوليو القادم، مؤكداً أن هذه المشاركة تُعدُّ خطوة مهمة في مسيرة تطوير المنتخب، وتعزيز حضوره في المحافل الدولية.
وقدم المسحل، في تصريح لوكالة الأنباء السعودية (واس)، شكره وتقديره لسفيرة خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية الأميرة ريما بنت بندر بن سلطان بن عبدالعزيز، على الاهتمام والدعم وتسهيل مهمة الوفد السعودي المشارك في البطولة، وأيضاً للقنصل السعودي العام في لوس أنجلوس بندر بن فهد الزيد، مشيراً إلى أن مشاركة المنتخب السعودي تمثّل محطة تاريخية في مسيرة الأخضر السعودي، وتأتي انسجاماً مع إستراتيجية كرة القدم السعودية، ومتوائمة مع أهداف توسيع نطاق المشاركة في البطولات الدولية، وتوفير تجارب فنية دولية عالية المستوى للاعبين، وزيادة معدل الاحتكاك الفني.
وقال: «بعزيمة اللاعبين والثقة بالجهاز الفني فإننا قادرون على تقديم صورة مشرّفة تليق بمكانة الكرة السعودية، ونعوّل على هذه المشاركة؛ لتكون فرصة إضافية في تعزيز جاهزية المنتخب للاستحقاقات القادمة، وفي مقدّمتها مباريات التصفيات المؤهلة لكأس العالم 2026». واختتم المسحل تصريحه بتوجيه الشكر للاتحاد القاري لكرة القدم «الكونكاكاف» على دعوته المنتخب السعودي، مؤكداً أن هذه الخطوة تُبرز المكانة المتنامية لكرة القدم السعودية على المستوى الدولي.

The President of the Saudi Football Federation, Yasser Al-Mishal, expressed his pride in the participation of the Saudi national football team in the 2025 Gold Cup, which will be hosted by the United States and Canada from June 14 to July 6. He affirmed that this participation is an important step in the development of the team and enhances its presence in international forums.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Mishal expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States, Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, for her interest, support, and facilitation of the mission of the Saudi delegation participating in the tournament, as well as to the Saudi Consul General in Los Angeles, Bandar bin Fahd Al-Zaid. He pointed out that the participation of the Saudi team represents a historic milestone in the journey of the Saudi Green and aligns with the strategy of Saudi football, in accordance with the goals of expanding participation in international tournaments, providing high-level international technical experiences for players, and increasing the rate of technical exposure.
He said: "With the determination of the players and confidence in the technical staff, we are capable of presenting an honorable image that befits the status of Saudi football. We rely on this participation to be an additional opportunity to enhance the team's readiness for upcoming challenges, foremost among them the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup." Al-Mishal concluded his statement by thanking the continental football federation "CONCACAF" for inviting the Saudi team, emphasizing that this step highlights the growing status of Saudi football on the international level.
