تشهد منطقة الكونكاكاف، اليوم، جولة حاسمة من التصفيات المؤهلة لكأس العالم لكرة القدم 2026، إذ تتنافس سبعة منتخبات على ثلاث بطاقات مباشرة، في وقت يتهدد فيه الإقصاء منتخب كوستاريكا، الأكثر مشاركة في المونديال بين منتخبات أمريكا الوسطى.
وتبحث منتخبات بنما وسورينام وجامايكا وكوراساو والهندوراس وهاييتي وكوستاريكا عن العبور إلى النهائيات، بينما خرجت كل من غواتيمالا والسلفادور وترينيداد وتوباغو، وبرمودا ونيكاراغوا من السباق.
وتمنح التصفيات ثلاث بطاقات مباشرة لصدارة كل مجموعة، إضافة إلى بطاقتين للملحق العالمي عبر أفضل صاحبي مركز ثانٍ، في سياق تأهل مسبق لمنتخبات الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية والمكسيك وكندا بكونها بلداناَ مضيفة.
ففي المجموعة الأولى، يتقاسم منتخبا سورينام وبنما الصدارة، حيث يحلّ الأول ضيفاً على غواتيمالا، فيما يستقبل الثاني نظيره السلفادوري، ويمتلك منتخب سورينام أفضلية ثلاثة أهداف، ما يفرض على بنما الفوز العريض أو انتظار تعثر منافسه، ويعول البنميون على دعم جماهيري كبير بملعب «روميل فرنانديز» لتحقيق حلم المشاركة الثانية بعد مونديال 2018.
أما في المجموعة الثانية، ستجمع مواجهة مباشرة منتخبي جامايكا وكوراساو، إذ يكفي التعادل الأخيرة لبلوغ أول نهائيات مونديالية في تاريخه، بينما تحتاج جامايكا للفوز للعودة إلى كأس العالم بعد غياب لقرابة ثلاثة عقود عن آخر مشاركة لها، التي كانت في مونديال فرنسا 1998.
وفي المجموعة الثالثة، يستقبل منتخب كوستاريكا نظيره الهندوراسي في قمة فاصلة، ولا بديل أمام «لوس تيكوس» عن الفوز للحفاظ على آمال بلوغ المونديال بعد مشاركاته الثلاث الأخيرة، ويتصدر منتخب الهندوراس المجموعة إلى جانب هاييتي برصيد 8 نقاط، مقابل 6 لكوستاريكا.
Today, the CONCACAF region witnesses a crucial round of qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with seven teams competing for three direct tickets, while Costa Rica, the most frequently participating team in the World Cup among Central American teams, faces the threat of elimination.
Teams from Panama, Suriname, Jamaica, Curaçao, Honduras, Haiti, and Costa Rica are seeking to advance to the finals, while Guatemala, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, and Nicaragua have been eliminated from the race.
The qualifiers grant three direct tickets for the top of each group, in addition to two tickets for the global playoff through the best second-placed teams, in the context of the pre-qualification of the United States, Mexico, and Canada as host countries.
In Group A, Suriname and Panama share the lead, with Suriname visiting Guatemala, while Panama hosts El Salvador. Suriname has a three-goal advantage, which means Panama must secure a wide victory or wait for their rival to falter. The Panamanians are counting on significant fan support at the "Rommel Fernandez" stadium to achieve their dream of participating for the second time after the 2018 World Cup.
In Group B, a direct clash will take place between Jamaica and Curaçao, where a draw is sufficient for the latter to reach its first World Cup finals in history, while Jamaica needs a win to return to the World Cup after nearly three decades since its last participation in the 1998 World Cup in France.
In Group C, Costa Rica will host Honduras in a decisive clash, and "Los Ticos" have no alternative but to win to keep their hopes of reaching the World Cup alive after their last three participations. Honduras leads the group alongside Haiti with 8 points, compared to Costa Rica's 6 points.
