حذر الاتحاد الدولي للسيارات من أن سباق جائزة أمريكا الكبرى للسيارات المقرر في أوستن يشكل خطرًا بسبب الحرارة المرتفعة، وذلك للمرة الثانية على التوالي.
وقال مدير سباقات بطولة العالم للفورمولا 1 روي ماركيز في بيان أرسله إلى الفرق المشاركة: «إن التوقعات الرسمية تشير إلى أن مؤشر الحرارة سيزيد على 31 درجة مئوية في وقت ما خلال سباق السرعة (السبت) أو سباق الجائزة الكبرى يوم الأحد».
وطُبقت هذه اللائحة في سباق جائزة سنغافورة الكبرى هذا الشهر بسبب درجات الحرارة والرطوبة العالية.
وفُرضت هذه اللائحة بعد أن عانى السائقون من الإرهاق الشديد في سباق جائزة قطر الكبرى لعام 2023، ما يعني أن السائقين يمكنهم إما ارتداء سترة تبريد، التي تقوم بتوزيع سائل بارد عبر الأنابيب للحفاظ على درجة حرارة الجسم، أو إضافة وزن إضافي إلى سياراتهم لتحسين التوازن.
ومن المقرر أن تصبح السترات إلزامية في الظروف الحارة بدءًا من الموسم القادم، لكنها ليست شائعة على نطاق واسع، حيث يفضل بعض السائقين استخدامها.

The International Automobile Federation has warned that the upcoming United States Grand Prix in Austin poses a risk due to high temperatures, marking the second consecutive time this has been raised.
World Formula 1 Championship Race Director Roy Marques stated in a message sent to the participating teams: "Official forecasts indicate that the heat index will exceed 31 degrees Celsius at some point during the sprint race (on Saturday) or the Grand Prix on Sunday."
This regulation was applied at the Singapore Grand Prix this month due to high temperatures and humidity.
The rule was implemented after drivers experienced severe fatigue during the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix, meaning that drivers can either wear a cooling vest, which distributes cold liquid through tubes to maintain body temperature, or add extra weight to their cars to improve balance.
The vests are set to become mandatory in hot conditions starting next season, but they are not widely popular, as some drivers prefer to use them.
