Eddie Howe, the head coach of the English football team Newcastle, confirmed that Alexander Isak's situation is "far from ideal," but he still hopes to see the unsettled star return to wear the Newcastle shirt, after confirming that the club rejected an offer from Liverpool.
The British news agency (PA Media) reported that Isak (25 years old), who is considered one of the most sought-after players in the football world, has become somewhat arrogant due to the Premier League champions' interest in him this summer.
Isak did not travel with Newcastle for their pre-season tour in Asia, due to what the club described as a "minor thigh injury," but signs of his dissatisfaction quickly emerged, along with the fact that he is currently training with his former club Real Sociedad.
Howe stated in comments reported by The Athletic: "I think from my position, I am completely removed from what is happening back home."
He added: "I was informed of an offer yesterday. This offer was rejected before I even heard about it,"
and continued: "There are people in England dealing with the situation. The truth is, I don't know what will happen in the future, but from our perspective, we still support Alexander in every way, and my wish is to continue seeing him wear the Newcastle shirt again."
Newcastle returns from Asia after the friendly match against Tottenham scheduled for Sunday in Seoul; Howe revealed that he learned from the media that Isak is training with his former team.
He said: "I know where he is from the media, so from that perspective, it's difficult for me to go into details."
He added: "The situation is bad and far from ideal, and it is somewhat complicated. I think that's all I have to say."
