طالب لاعبو سياتل ساوندرز ورابطة لاعبي الدوري الأمريكي لكرة القدم (إم إل إس) البطولة بتوزيع عادل للمبالغ التي ستحصل عليها من الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم من أجل مونديال الأندية.
ويعد سياتل ساوندرز أحد الأندية الأمريكية الثلاثة التي ستشارك في البطولة بجانب إنتر ميامي ولوس آنجلوس إف سي.
وخرج لاعبو سياتل في الإحماء قبل مواجهة مينيسوتا يونايتد الأحد في الدوري الأمريكي مرتدين قميصاً احتجاجياً عليه صورة شخصية «السيد مونوبولي» يرتدي قبعة الدوري الأمريكي ويركض حاملاً كيساً من أموال «فيفا».
وحمل القميص عبارة «World Club Cash Grab» (احصل على أموال كأس العالم للأندية)، وعلى ظهره عبارة «Fair Share Now» (المشاركة العادلة الآن)، طبقاً لوكالة الأنباء الإسبانية.
بالتزامن مع هذا الاحتجاج، أصدرت رابطة لاعبي الدوري الأمريكي لكرة القدم بياناً ذكرت فيه أن أعضاءها «يتوقعون أن يعاملوا بإنصاف واحترام».
وأشارت إلى أن «بطولة فيفا الجديدة تزيد من عبء العمل المتزايد على اللاعبين، دون مراعاة سلامتهم البدنية. ولضمان مشاركة الأندية واللاعبين اضطر فيفا إلى تخصيص مبالغ مالية تاريخية، ما حقق مكاسب مالية غير مسبوقة للدوري الأمريكي لكرة القدم».
وأضافت: «على الرغم من هذا الدخل الاستثنائي، رفضت الرابطة تخصيص نسبة عادلة من هذه الأموال للاعبين أنفسهم».
ويخوض سياتل ساوندرز مونديال الأندية ضمن المجموعة الثانية التي تضم: أتلتيكو مدريد، وبوتافوجو، وباريس سان جيرمان.

The Seattle Sounders players and the Major League Soccer (MLS) Players Association have called for a fair distribution of the amounts they will receive from FIFA for the Club World Cup.
Seattle Sounders is one of the three American clubs participating in the tournament alongside Inter Miami and Los Angeles FC.
The Seattle players took to the field for warm-ups before facing Minnesota United on Sunday in MLS, wearing a protest shirt featuring a caricature of "Mr. Monopoly" wearing an MLS cap and running while carrying a bag of "FIFA" money.
The shirt bore the phrase "World Club Cash Grab" on the front, and "Fair Share Now" on the back, according to the Spanish news agency.
In conjunction with this protest, the MLS Players Association issued a statement mentioning that its members "expect to be treated fairly and with respect."
It pointed out that "the new FIFA tournament increases the growing workload on players, without regard for their physical safety. To ensure the participation of clubs and players, FIFA had to allocate historic financial amounts, resulting in unprecedented financial gains for Major League Soccer."
It added: "Despite this extraordinary income, the association has refused to allocate a fair percentage of this money to the players themselves."
Seattle Sounders is competing in the Club World Cup in Group B, which includes: Atlético Madrid, Botafogo, and Paris Saint-Germain.
