شهدت منافسات بطولة «جبل سيفة الدولية لصيد الأسماك»، التي تستضيفها سلطنة عُمان، حضوراً مميزاً لفريق «Reel Saudis ريل السعودي» اليوم (الجمعة). ومن المقرر أن تُختتم المنافسات غداً (السبت)، وسط تقارب كبير في النتائج بين الفرق المشاركة، ومنافسة محتدمة على المراكز المتقدمة.
وقال رئيس لجنة تحكيم البطولة هشام فريد: «شهدت منافسات اليوم نجاح 13 فريقاً من أصل 20 في اصطياد أنواع متنوعة من الأسماك، شملت البلاك مارلن، السلفيش، التونة، والماهي ماهي».
المشاركة السعودية الأولى
وأضاف: «الفرق السعودية لم تكن حاضرة في النسخة الماضية، لكنها شاركت هذا العام بـ3 فرق، من أبرزها فريق Reel Saudis، الذي حقق المركز الرابع في منافسات اليوم بقيادة الكابتن زياد العقيل، وغداً تُختتم المسابقة وتُعلن النتائج النهائية».
من جانبه، قال حليم إلياس، عضو فريق «1 Reel Saudis»، في تصريحات خاصة إلى «عكاظ»: «قدّمنا أداءً جيداً اليوم، أبحرنا لما يقارب 3 ساعات ونصف، وتمكنا من اصطياد 8 إلى 9 أسماك «تونة»، منها نحو 5 تنطبق عليها شروط المسابقة».
وأضاف: «كان هدفنا اليوم اصطياد سمك التونة، أما غداً فستكون خطتنا مختلفة، حيث نستهدف صيد السلفيش، والمارلن».
محاولة سعودية لصيد عملاق
بدوره، أوضح مهند الحربي، عضو فريق «Sea Hunters» السعودي، أن الأجواء كانت رائعة ومساعدة على الصيد، مشيراً إلى أن فريقه كان قريباً جداً من اصطياد سمكة «بلاك مارلن» يتجاوز وزنها 200 كيلوغرام. وأضاف: «سنواصل محاولاتنا غداً، ونسعى لتحقيق نتيجة مميزة».
وتحتضن وجهة جبل سيفة أكبر بطولة عالمية للصيد من نوعها في الخليج، بمشاركة أكثر من 100 صياد محترف من 10 دول يتنافسون على لقب النسخة العمانية الثانية من البطولة المعتمدة دولياً تحت مظلة الاتحاد الدولي لصيد الأسماك (IGFA).
وتمهد بطولة جبل سيفة لنهائيات بطولة كأس العالم لصيد الأسماك، حيث تتأهل الفرق الحائزة على المراكز الثلاثة الأولى تلقائياً للمنافسات العالمية.
وتأتي البطولة من تنظيم عضو الاتحاد الدولي لصيد الأسماك أحمد ميتكيس، الذي يتولى أيضاً مهمة تنظيم بطولة كأس العالم لصيد الأسماك التي تحتضنها مصر لأول مرة عام 2028، بمشاركة 25 دولة، برعاية الاتحاد المصري لصيد الأسماك.
Strong Saudi Presence in the Competitions
The "Jebel Sifah International Fishing Championship," hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, witnessed a remarkable presence of the "Reel Saudis" team today (Friday). The competitions are set to conclude tomorrow (Saturday), with a close competition among the participating teams and a fierce battle for the top positions.
The head of the championship's judging committee, Hisham Farid, stated: "Today’s competitions saw 13 teams out of 20 successfully catch various types of fish, including black marlin, sailfish, tuna, and mahi-mahi."
First Saudi Participation
He added: "The Saudi teams did not participate in the last edition, but this year they are represented by 3 teams, the most prominent of which is the Reel Saudis team, which secured fourth place in today’s competitions under the leadership of Captain Ziad Al-Aqeel. Tomorrow, the competition will conclude, and the final results will be announced."
For his part, Halim Elias, a member of the "1 Reel Saudis" team, stated in exclusive remarks to "Okaz": "We performed well today, sailing for about 3 and a half hours, and we managed to catch 8 to 9 tuna, of which about 5 meet the competition's criteria."
He added: "Our goal today was to catch tuna, while tomorrow our plan will be different, as we aim to catch sailfish and marlin."
Saudi Attempt to Catch a Giant
In turn, Muhannad Al-Harbi, a member of the Saudi "Sea Hunters" team, explained that the conditions were great and conducive to fishing, noting that his team was very close to catching a black marlin weighing over 200 kilograms. He added: "We will continue our attempts tomorrow, and we aim to achieve a remarkable result."
The Jebel Sifah destination hosts the largest global fishing championship of its kind in the Gulf, with the participation of over 100 professional fishermen from 10 countries competing for the title of the second Omani edition of the championship, which is internationally recognized under the umbrella of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA).
The Jebel Sifah championship paves the way for the finals of the World Fishing Cup, where the top three teams automatically qualify for the global competitions.
The championship is organized by International Game Fish Association member Ahmed Mitkis, who is also responsible for organizing the World Fishing Cup, which will be hosted in Egypt for the first time in 2028, with the participation of 25 countries, under the auspices of the Egyptian Fishing Federation.
