عبّر الاتحاد الفلسطيني لكرة القدم عن استيائه من الحملة الإعلامية والجماهيرية التي يتعرض لها مهاجم النادي الأهلي المصري، وسام أبو علي، عقب أزمته الأخيرة مع ناديه.
وفي بيان رسمي نشره عبر موقعه الإلكتروني، قال الاتحاد إنه يتابع بـ«بالغ القلق والأسف» ما يواجهه أبو علي من «تشكيك وإساءات غير مبررة» على بعض المنصات الإعلامية ومواقع التواصل، على خلفية استبعاده من معسكر الأهلي في تونس بسبب غيابات ومخالفات إدارية.
وأكد الاتحاد أن وسام أبو علي يُعد من العناصر الأساسية في المنتخب الفلسطيني، وأنه لطالما أظهر التزاماً وانضباطاً داخل وخارج الملعب، مشدداً على رفضه التام لأي مساس بـ«هويته الوطنية أو المهنية».
ودعا الاتحاد الفلسطيني نظيره المصري، ورئيسه هاني أبو ريدة، إلى التدخل لحماية اللاعب، كما طالب إدارة الأهلي بتهدئة الأجواء وتحمل مسؤوليتها في الدفاع عن لاعبيها.
واختتم البيان بتجديد التقدير للنادي الأهلي وتاريخه، متمنياً التوفيق لأبو علي في مسيرته، وللأهلي في استحقاقاته القادمة.
The Palestinian Football Association expressed its dissatisfaction with the media and public campaign directed against Al Ahly club's striker, Wissam Abu Ali, following his recent crisis with the club.
In an official statement published on its website, the association said it is following with "great concern and regret" what Abu Ali is facing in terms of "unjustified doubts and insults" on some media platforms and social networks, following his exclusion from the Al Ahly camp in Tunisia due to absences and administrative violations.
The association confirmed that Wissam Abu Ali is considered one of the key players in the Palestinian national team, and that he has always shown commitment and discipline both on and off the field, emphasizing its complete rejection of any infringement on his "national or professional identity."
The Palestinian association called on its Egyptian counterpart and its president, Hani Abou Rida, to intervene to protect the player, and also urged the Al Ahly management to calm the atmosphere and take responsibility in defending its players.
The statement concluded by renewing appreciation for Al Ahly and its history, wishing success for Abu Ali in his career, and for Al Ahly in its upcoming challenges.
