أعلن الاتحاد العُماني لكرة القدم، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، تعاقده مع البرتغالي كارلوس كيروش لقيادة المنتخب الأول.
وقال الاتحاد العُماني في بيان: «يعلن مجلس الإدارة عن التعاقد مع المدرب البرتغالي كارلوس كيروش لتولي مهمة القيادة الفنية للمنتخب الوطني الأول خلال المرحلة القادمة، ضمن جهود الاتحاد لتعزيز أداء المنتخب في الاستحقاقات القادمة».
من جانب آخر، قرر الاتحاد تعيين المدرب الوطني حمد العزاني مديراً فنياً لمنتخب الشباب، مع تكليفه مؤقتاً بمهمة مساعد مدرب المنتخب الأول خلال فترة التصفيات.
ويشارك منتخب عمان في الملحق الآسيوي المؤهل إلى كأس العالم 2026، رفقة السعودية، إندونيسيا، العراق، قطر، الإمارات، على أن تجرى القرعة، الخميس القادم.
وسيتم تقسيم المنتخبات خلال منافسات الملحق إلى مجموعتين، تضم كل واحدة منها ثلاثة منتخبات، على أن يتأهل فقط متصدر كل مجموعة إلى النهائيات العالمية المُرتقبة في العام القادم.
وستقام مباريات كل مجموعة بنظام الدوري من مرحلة واحدة من خلال التجمع، وتم تأكيد الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم والاتحاد القطري كجهتين مُضيفتين للمباريات.
The Oman Football Association announced today (Tuesday) its contract with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz to lead the national team.
The Oman Football Association stated in a statement: "The Board of Directors announces the contract with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz to take over the technical leadership of the national team during the upcoming phase, as part of the association's efforts to enhance the team's performance in the upcoming competitions."
On another note, the association decided to appoint national coach Hamad Al-Izani as the technical director of the youth team, temporarily assigning him the role of assistant coach for the national team during the qualifying period.
The Oman national team is participating in the Asian playoff for qualification to the 2026 World Cup, alongside Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Iraq, Qatar, and the UAE, with the draw scheduled for next Thursday.
The teams will be divided into two groups during the playoff competitions, each consisting of three teams, with only the group leaders qualifying for the anticipated global finals next year.
Matches in each group will be held in a single round-robin format through a gathering, and the Saudi Football Association and the Qatari Football Association have been confirmed as the host entities for the matches.
