The President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, called on friendly countries and the international community to unite efforts to confront the Houthi escalation and support moves aimed at classifying the group as a terrorist organization globally, emphasizing that attacks on civilian airports and residential neighborhoods, as well as threats to international navigation, require a firm stance that goes beyond condemnation to practical measures.
Al-Alimi stated that the targeting of Aden International Airport and Al-Riyan Civil Airport, the ongoing assaults on Taiz, the siege of its residents, and the bombardment of its crowded neighborhoods, alongside attacks on Marib and other governorates, result in civilian casualties, destruction of infrastructure, and exacerbate the humanitarian disaster.
From Condemnation to Action
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed that the international community no longer faces a lack of evidence regarding Houthi violations, but rather has a responsibility to take a stance commensurate with their magnitude, calling for the implementation of international legitimacy decisions, preventing the flow of weapons and technologies to the group, drying up its funding sources, and ending its ability to threaten Yemen, neighboring countries, and international peace and security.
He pointed out that the world, which united against organizations like "ISIS," "Al-Qaeda," and "Boko Haram," is now called upon to unify its efforts to confront the Houthi threat, noting that the group's practices include recruiting children, planting mines, rigging roads and vehicles, using missiles and drones against civilians and vital facilities, targeting commercial ships, and threatening international navigation, in addition to the abduction of United Nations employees and humanitarian organizations.
"Dawn of Yemen" Continues
Al-Alimi affirmed that the "Dawn of Yemen" operation, led by the government and the Yemeni armed forces with support from the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy, is progressing towards achieving its goals, foremost among them the restoration of state institutions and the establishment of its authority over all Yemeni territories.
He added that the operation will not stop until its objectives are completed, and that missile and drone attacks will not deter Yemenis and their government from restoring their state institutions, warning that delaying the confrontation of the Houthi threat multiplies its humanitarian, security, and economic costs.
Regarding international navigation, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council confirmed that the source of the threat comes from land, and that protecting the sea requires supporting the Yemeni government to impose its control over coastal cities and ports, and ending their use as platforms for attacks and arms smuggling.
He warned that the continued control of the Houthis over the ports of Hodeidah and the Yemeni coasts prolongs the crisis and keeps trade routes and energy security vulnerable to threats, calling on countries participating in maritime coalitions to support the government's efforts to address sources of danger on the ground.
Al-Alimi renewed his appreciation for the supportive Saudi stance towards the Yemeni people and their political leadership, praising the Kingdom's role in supporting the economy, state institutions, and humanitarian response, and affirming that its positions will remain firmly etched in the memories of Yemenis.
