دعا الأمين العام لمجلس التعاون الخليجي جاسم محمد البديوي اليوم (الخميس) مجلس الأمن الدولي لاتخاذ كل الإجراءات لضمان حرية الملاحة في جميع المضائق، مؤكداً على أهمية إصدار مجلس الأمن قرارا باستخدام كل السبل لاستعادة الملاحة بمضيق هرمز.
وقال محمد البديوي في كلمة له خلال اجتماع مجلس الأمن الدولي في نيويورك لمناقشة الاعتداءات الإيرانية: تعطيل الملاحة البحرية لا يقتصر على دول الخليج بل يمتد للعديد من الدول، موضحاً أن تعطيل الملاحة البحرية في الخليج له تبعات على الاقتصاد الدولي، وعلى مجلس الأمن اتخاذ الإجراءات الكفيلة بحماية الممرات المائية.
وأضاف: «دول الخليج تريد علاقات طبيعية مع إيران وحل كل القضايا الأمنية بشفافية»، مؤكداً أن العدوان الإيراني على دول الخليج طال منشآت مدنية وحيوية، ودول المجلس تؤكد حقها الأصيل في الدفاع عن النفس.
وشدد بالقول: «دول الخليج تتعرض لعدوان إيراني آثم»، مبيناً أن دول الخليج لن تتخلى عن التزامها بتجنب التصعيد الخطير الذي لا يخدم أحداً.
ولفت إلى أن دول الخليج ستتخذ كل التدابير لحماية سيادتها وسلامة أراضيها، مبيناً أن العدوان الإيراني تجاوز الخطوط الحمراء بتهديد الملاحة عبر مضيق هرمز.
وأعرب الأمين العام لمجلس التعاون الخليجي عن إدانة المجلس للاعتداءات الإيرانية التي تشكل خرقاً واضحاً للقانون الدولي، موضحاً أن تهديد الحوثي بإغلاق باب المندب دليل على اتساع الصراع.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, today (Thursday) called on the United Nations Security Council to take all necessary measures to ensure freedom of navigation in all straits, emphasizing the importance of the Security Council issuing a resolution to use all means to restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Al-Budaiwi stated in a speech during the UN Security Council meeting in New York to discuss Iranian aggressions: "Disruption of maritime navigation is not limited to Gulf countries but extends to many nations," explaining that the disruption of maritime navigation in the Gulf has repercussions on the international economy, and the Security Council must take measures to protect waterways.
He added: "Gulf countries want normal relations with Iran and to resolve all security issues transparently," affirming that Iranian aggression against Gulf countries has targeted civilian and vital facilities, and the Council of States asserts its inherent right to self-defense.
He emphasized by saying: "Gulf countries are subjected to heinous Iranian aggression," indicating that Gulf countries will not abandon their commitment to avoid dangerous escalation that serves no one.
He pointed out that Gulf countries will take all measures to protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting that Iranian aggression has crossed red lines by threatening navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council expressed the Council's condemnation of the Iranian aggressions that constitute a clear violation of international law, explaining that the Houthi threat to close Bab el-Mandeb is evidence of the widening conflict.
