في تصريح تصعيدي جديد عقب إعلان وزير الإعلام فشل محادثات إسطنبول بين إسلام آباد وكابول، هدد وزير الدفاع الباكستاني، خواجة آصف، اليوم (الأربعاء)، بـ«محو» حركة طالبان أفغانستان.
وكتب آصف عبر حسابه في «إكس»: «لا تحتاج باكستان إلى استخدام، ولو جزء بسيط من ترسانتها الكاملة للقضاء على نظام طالبان بالكامل ودفع أفراده للاختباء في الكهوف».
ولقي فشل محادثات إسلام آباد وكابول غضبا باكستانيا.
وقال وزير الإعلام الباكستاني عطا الله ترار، في وقت سابق اليوم: إن المحادثات التي تهدف إلى هدنة طويلة الأمد بين أفغانستان وباكستان اختتمت في إسطنبول دون التوصل إلى حل عملي، موضحاً أن الجانب الأفغاني استمر في الانحراف عن القضية الأساسية، متهربا من النقطة الرئيسية التي بدأت على أساسها عملية الحوار.
وأضاف: «بدلا من قبول أي مسؤولية، لجأت حركة طالبان الأفغانية إلى لعبة إلقاء اللوم والتهرب والحيل، وبالتالي، فشل الحوار في التوصل إلى أي حل عملي».
وكتب وزير الإعلام الباكستاني على حسابه في «إكس»: سنواصل اتخاذ كل التدابير اللازمة لحماية شعبنا من التهديد الإرهابي، متوعدا بالقضاء على ما وصفهم بـ«الإرهابيين» ومخابئهم وشركائهم وداعميهم.
وكانت المحادثات التي انطلقت في تركيا تهدف إلى التوصل إلى سلام دائم بين الجارتين بعد مقتل عشرات على طول حدودهما في أسوأ أعمال عنف من هذا النوع منذ وصول طالبان للسلطة في كابول عام 2021.
وذكرت مصادر في البلدين أن المحادثات انتهت بعد سجال بين المتفاوضين بشأن هذه القضية، مبينة أن الجانب الأفغاني قال إنه لا سيطرة له على طالبان الباكستانية التي شنت هجمات على القوات الباكستانية في الأسابيع الماضية، فيما اتهم مصدر أمني باكستاني طالبان بعدم الالتزام بكبح جماح حركة طالبان الباكستانية، والسماح لها بالعمل دون عقاب داخل أفغانستان.
واندلعت اشتباكات بين البلدين الجارين أواخر الشهر الماضي وتجددت خلال شهر أكتوبر الجاري بعد غارات جوية باكستانية على العاصمة الأفغانية كابول، وردت طالبان بهجمات على مواقع عسكرية باكستانية على طول الحدود الممتدة لمسافة 2600 كيلومتر.
In a new escalatory statement following the announcement by the Minister of Information about the failure of the Istanbul talks between Islamabad and Kabul, Pakistan's Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, threatened today (Wednesday) to "wipe out" the Taliban of Afghanistan.
Asif wrote on his account on "X": "Pakistan does not need to use even a small part of its full arsenal to completely eliminate the Taliban regime and force its members to hide in caves."
The failure of the Islamabad-Kabul talks has sparked anger in Pakistan.
Pakistan's Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, stated earlier today that the talks aimed at a long-term ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan concluded in Istanbul without reaching a practical solution, explaining that the Afghan side continued to deviate from the core issue, evading the main point on which the dialogue process was based.
He added: "Instead of accepting any responsibility, the Afghan Taliban resorted to a game of blame-shifting and evasion, and thus, the dialogue failed to reach any practical solution."
The Pakistani Minister of Information wrote on his account on "X": "We will continue to take all necessary measures to protect our people from the terrorist threat," vowing to eliminate what he described as "terrorists," their hideouts, partners, and supporters.
The talks that began in Turkey aimed to achieve lasting peace between the two neighbors after dozens were killed along their borders in the worst violence of this kind since the Taliban took power in Kabul in 2021.
Sources in both countries reported that the talks ended after a dispute among the negotiators regarding this issue, indicating that the Afghan side claimed it had no control over the Pakistani Taliban, which had launched attacks on Pakistani forces in recent weeks, while a Pakistani security source accused the Taliban of failing to rein in the Pakistani Taliban and allowing it to operate with impunity inside Afghanistan.
Clashes erupted between the two neighboring countries at the end of last month and renewed during October after Pakistani airstrikes on the Afghan capital, Kabul, to which the Taliban responded with attacks on Pakistani military sites along the 2,600-kilometer-long border.
