كشفت وزارة الدفاع الرومانية، اليوم (الأربعاء)، قرار أمريكا تقليص وجودها العسكري على الجناح الشرقي لحلف شمال الأطلسي «الناتو».
وقالت وزارة الدفاع الرومانية إن الولايات المتحدة أبلغت حلفاءها بأنها قررت تقليص وجودها العسكري على الجناح الشرقي لحلف شمال الأطلسي (الناتو)، موضحة أن القرار كان متوقعاً، ورومانيا على اتصال دائم مع شريكها الإستراتيجي الأمريكي.
سحب 1000 جندي
وقدرت الوزارة أن نحو 1000 جندي أمريكي سيبقون في البلاد.
وذكر البيان أن التقليص سيؤثر على عناصر من القوات التي ستتوقف عن التناوب في أوروبا، والتي تشمل أيضاً القوات المتمركزة في القاعدة العسكرية الرومانية ميخائيل كوجالنيسانو على البحر الأسود.
بدوره، قال مسؤول في الحلف إن الولايات المتحدة أبلغت التكتل الدفاعي بالتقليص مسبقاً، مشيراً إلى أن تعديل تموضع القوات الأمريكية ليس أمراً غير معتاد، مبيناً أنه حتى بعد هذا التغيير، فإن حجم القوات الأمريكية في أوروبا يبقى أكبر مما كان عليه منذ سنوات كثيرة.
وذكر أن الناتو على تواصل وثيق مع الولايات المتحدة بشأن التموضع العسكري في القارة بشكل عام.
أولويات أمريكا
بالمقابل، أعربت إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب مراراً عن رغبتها الواضحة في أن تتحمل الدول الأوروبية مزيداً من المسؤولية عن أمنها، بما يتيح للولايات المتحدة توجيه مواردها العسكرية نحو دول وأولويات أخرى.
ويُقدر عدد القوات الأمريكية المنتشرة في أوروبا بنحو 80 ألف جندي، وبعد اندلاع الحرب الروسية، أيد مشرعون من الحزبين الديمقراطي والجمهوري تعزيز الوجود العسكري الأمريكي على الجناح الشرقي للناتو، باعتباره رسالة واضحة لروسيا تؤكد التزام الولايات المتحدة بالدفاع عن الدول المحاذية لروسيا، وهو ما دعم قرار الرئيس الأمريكي السابق جو بايدن، إرسال 20 ألف جندي إضافي إلى المنطقة في عام 2022 لتعزيز دفاعات الدول المتاخمة لأوكرانيا بعد الغزو الروسي.

The ministry estimated that about 1000 American soldiers will remain in the country.
The statement mentioned that the reduction will affect elements of the forces that will stop rotating in Europe, which also includes the troops stationed at the Romanian military base Mihail Kogălniceanu on the Black Sea.
For his part, a NATO official stated that the United States had previously informed the defense bloc about the reduction, noting that adjusting the positioning of American forces is not unusual, indicating that even after this change, the size of American forces in Europe remains larger than it has been for many years.
He mentioned that NATO is in close contact with the United States regarding military positioning on the continent in general.
American Priorities
In contrast, the administration of President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed its clear desire for European countries to take on more responsibility for their security, allowing the United States to direct its military resources towards other countries and priorities.
The number of American troops deployed in Europe is estimated to be around 80,000 soldiers. After the outbreak of the Russian war, lawmakers from both the Democratic and Republican parties supported enhancing the American military presence on NATO's eastern flank, viewing it as a clear message to Russia affirming the United States' commitment to defending countries bordering Russia. This supported the decision of former President Joe Biden to send an additional 20,000 soldiers to the region in 2022 to bolster the defenses of countries adjacent to Ukraine following the Russian invasion.
