وسط توترات بين البلدين، نقل موقع «أكسيوس» عن مصادر خاصة، أن المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف، سيجتمع مع نظيره الروسي كيريل دميترييف، غداً السبت، في ميامي بالولايات المتحدة.
وكشفت وكالة الإعلام الروسية الرسمية أن المبعوث الخاص للرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين لشؤون الاستثمار والتعاون الاقتصادي، موجود حالياً في الولايات المتحدة لإجراء محادثات.
وتوقعت شبكة «سي إن إن» نقلاً عن مصادر مطلعة، أن يلتقي دميترييف بمسؤولين في إدارة ترمب لمواصلة المناقشات حول العلاقات الأمريكية الروسية.
وفرض ترمب عقوبات على أكبر شركتين للنفط في روسيا هذا الأسبوع للضغط على بوتين لإنهاء الحرب في أوكرانيا.
وتحدث الرئيسان الأمريكي والروسي الاسبوع الماضي، وقال ترمب إنه يعتزم لقاءه قريباً، لكن مسؤولين أمريكيين قالوا إن مصير الاجتماع لا يزال معلقاً.
وتأتي زيارة دميترييف في ظل تجدد التوترات بين الولايات المتحدة وروسيا، وفي ظل تزايد إحباط واشنطن إزاء رفض الكرملين إنهاء الحرب في أوكرانيا، وبعد أن أعلن ترمب أنه ألغى قمة مقررة مع نظيره الروسي فلاديمير بوتين.
ومع بدء العملية العسكرية الروسية بأوكرانيا في فبراير 2022، فرضت وزارة الخزانة الأمريكية عقوبات على دميترييف، الذي صنفته «شريكاً مقرباً من بوتين» وعائلته.
وفي أبريل من العام 2025، أصبح دميترييف أول مسؤول روسي يزور العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن منذ الحرب بأوكرانيا. واعتُبرت زيارته التي التقى خلالها بويتكوف، خطوة مهمة في العلاقات التي كانت تشهد تقارباً آنذاك بين الكرملين والبيت الأبيض.
ورفعت الحكومة الأمريكية مؤقتاً العقوبات المفروضة على دميترييف للسماح لوزارة الخارجية بمنحه تأشيرة دخول إلى الولايات المتحدة، بحسب ما أفصح مصدر لـCNN.
واقترح دميترييف وهو من أبرز دعاة الكرملين لتوثيق التعاون الاقتصادي بين روسيا والولايات المتحدة، بناء نفق «ترمب-بوتين» بين ألاسكا والشرق الأقصى الروسي.
Amid tensions between the two countries, Axios reported from private sources that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff will meet with his Russian counterpart Kirill Dmitriev tomorrow, Saturday, in Miami, United States.
The official Russian news agency revealed that the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation is currently in the United States for talks.
CNN reported, citing informed sources, that Dmitriev is expected to meet with officials in the Trump administration to continue discussions about U.S.-Russian relations.
Trump imposed sanctions on the two largest oil companies in Russia this week to pressure Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
The American and Russian presidents spoke last week, and Trump stated that he intends to meet with him soon, but U.S. officials said the fate of the meeting remains uncertain.
Dmitriev's visit comes amid renewed tensions between the United States and Russia, and increasing frustration in Washington over the Kremlin's refusal to end the war in Ukraine, after Trump announced that he had canceled a scheduled summit with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, the U.S. Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Dmitriev, labeling him a "close associate of Putin" and his family.
In April 2025, Dmitriev became the first Russian official to visit the U.S. capital, Washington, since the war in Ukraine. His visit, during which he met with Witkoff, was considered an important step in the relations that were witnessing a rapprochement at that time between the Kremlin and the White House.
The U.S. government temporarily lifted the sanctions imposed on Dmitriev to allow the State Department to grant him a visa to enter the United States, according to a source who spoke to CNN.
Dmitriev, a prominent advocate of the Kremlin for strengthening economic cooperation between Russia and the United States, proposed building a "Trump-Putin" tunnel between Alaska and the Russian Far East.
