Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky renewed his call for the United States to stop the Russian war on his country. In a post on X platform today (Saturday), Zelensky considered that what former President Donald Trump achieved in the Middle East, and his remarkable success in stopping the Gaza war, confirms that he is also capable of stopping the Russian war.
He revealed that he had a phone call which he described as "very positive and productive" with the American president. Zelensky said he informed Trump about the Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy system. He added that they "discussed opportunities to enhance Ukrainian air defense, in addition to tangible agreements being worked on to ensure that."
Zelensky emphasized the necessity for the Russian side to be prepared to engage in genuine diplomacy, but he expressed that this would only be achieved through strength.
In recent times, Zelensky has urged Washington to provide his country with long-range missiles with a range exceeding 2000 kilometers, as well as advanced air defense systems. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that supplying Ukraine with "Tomahawk" missiles would lead to the destruction of relations between Moscow and Washington.
Since his election and return to the White House, the American president has repeatedly announced that he is capable of quickly ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, within weeks, yet he has not been able to do so so far. This has led him recently to express his frustration and criticize both his Russian counterpart Putin and Kyiv alike.
