رحبت مصر باعتماد الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة قرارًا يؤيد إعلان نيويورك بشأن تنفيذ حل الدولتين، وإقامة دولة فلسطينية مستقلة، والذي يعد نتاجًا لمؤتمر الأمم المتحدة رفيع المستوى حول «التسوية السلمية لقضية فلسطين وتطبيق حل الدولتين»، الذي عقد في نيويورك في يوليو الماضي برئاسة مشتركة من السعودية وفرنسا.
تأييد دولي واسع النطاق للحقوق الفلسطينية المشروعة
وأكدت مصر في بيان لوزارة خارجيتها أن حصول القرار على تأييد 142 دولة هو دليل دامغ على التأييد الدولي واسع النطاق للحقوق الفلسطينية المشروعة وفي مقدمتها حق الشعب الفلسطيني في تقرير مصيره وإقامة دولته المستقلة على خطوط 4 يونيو 1967 وعاصمتها القدس الشرقية، مطالبة كافة الدول المؤيدة للقرار بتضافر الجهود للعمل على تنفيذ مُخرجات المؤتمر، بما يكفل استعادة عملية السلام في الشرق الأوسط ووضع حد للسياسات العدوانية الإسرائيلية.
وشددت مصر على أن تلك الغاية لن تتحقق سوى من خلال بذل جهود مكثفة للتوصل لوقف لإطلاق النار في قطاع غزة، ووضع حد للانتهاكات الإسرائيلية السافرة واستخدامها التجويع والحصار كسلاح من أجل إجبار الشعب الفلسطيني على التهجير وترك أرضه، وهو ما ترفضه مصر تحت أي مسمى أو ذريعة.
Egypt welcomed the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of a resolution supporting the New York Declaration on the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, which is the result of the high-level United Nations conference on "the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the application of the two-state solution," held in New York last July under the joint presidency of Saudi Arabia and France.
Widespread International Support for Legitimate Palestinian Rights
Egypt confirmed in a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the resolution's endorsement by 142 countries is compelling evidence of widespread international support for legitimate Palestinian rights, foremost among them the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Egypt called on all countries supporting the resolution to join efforts to implement the outcomes of the conference, which would ensure the restoration of the peace process in the Middle East and put an end to Israeli aggressive policies.
Egypt emphasized that this goal can only be achieved through intensive efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to put an end to the blatant Israeli violations and their use of starvation and siege as weapons to force the Palestinian people into displacement and to abandon their land, which Egypt rejects under any name or pretext.
