الصين تعلن انضمامها لحل الدولتين

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced yesterday (Friday) its approval for China to join the New York Declaration on the Two-State Solution, confirming that the declaration aligns with its firm stance on the Palestinian issue.

The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Geng Shuang, stated during a press conference that the declaration is in line with China's consistent position regarding the Palestinian issue. In response to a media question about the final document of the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, he noted that the Palestinian issue is at the core of Middle Eastern issues, emphasizing that it is currently in a critical phase.

The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said: “We support all efforts aimed at a political settlement of the Palestinian issue, and we will continue to work with the international community to make diligent efforts to stop the fighting in Gaza, alleviate the humanitarian crisis, implement the two-state solution, and achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue.”

The Finnish government announced yesterday its joining of the New York Declaration, the Saudi-French initiative regarding the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution. Meanwhile, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there is a comprehensive comparison regarding the "conditional" recognition of the State of Palestine and increasing pressure on settlers, indicating that Belgium will engage in the declaration that will be issued in New York on September 22 regarding the implementation of the two-state solution, and will politically signal recognition of the State of Palestine.

This coincided with the announcement by the United Nations General Assembly to resume a high-level international conference on the two-state solution on September 22, thereby reviving a process that was suspended this summer.

Yesterday, the Assembly adopted an oral resolution proposed by Saudi Arabia regarding the resumption of the high-level international conference for the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution.

After the adoption of the oral resolution, both Israel and the United States announced their rejection of it, claiming that resuming the conference would prolong the war in Gaza.

The Deputy Political Counselor of the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, Ting Wu, announced that her country would not participate in the conference.

It is worth noting that the resumption of the conference during the high-level week of the Assembly allows more heads of state and government the opportunity to attend, but it is still unclear whether Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will be able to attend the conference in person, given the U.S. ban on granting visas to Palestinian officials.
