The Lebanese Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, confirmed that the rebuilding of the state should remain a hallmark of the difficult and delicate phase that Lebanon is going through, no matter how fierce the storms and growing obstacles become.
He said during a session of the Higher Islamic Sharia Council today (Saturday): “We will continue our efforts in the required reforms and in asserting the authority of the state over all its territories with its own capabilities to revive the state and its institutions. Despite the difficulties and challenges, our strongest weapon will remain national unity, will, determination, and optimism to reach the safe harbor for our wounded nation due to the ongoing Israeli aggression. What the government is doing is to establish the concept of a strong and just state, which serves the interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese people. The Cabinet will spare no effort in preserving every inch of our homeland.”
For his part, the Lebanese Mufti Abdul Latif Deryan praised President Salam's wisdom, patience, efforts, and endeavors in local, Arab, and international communications aimed at overcoming the obstacles facing governance and the government. He expressed his keenness to support and assist the government in its national work despite the challenges it faces from successive crises.
This comes as political anticipation prevails in Lebanon, which is expected to receive next week the army's operational plan for the handover of Hezbollah's weapons, while the Israeli response regarding the mechanism for withdrawal from the south, along with the implementation of arms restriction, remains absent.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam had stated in press remarks that negotiations with the American side are at a standstill.
