أكدت مصادر قبلية يمنية اليوم (الثلاثاء) مقتل القيادي في تنظيم القاعدة في منطقة المصينعة بمحافظة شبوة جنوب شرق اليمن أبو عواد صالح الطوسلي في معارك مع القوات الأمنية اليمنية المرابطة بين محافظتي شبوة وأبين، موضحة أن الطوسلي يعد من أخطر قادة تنظيم القاعدة وكان يتخذ من الجبال الممتدة بين أبين وشبوة مخابئ لتحركاته.
وأوضحت المصادر أن اشتباكات اندلعت في منطقة «أرض آل غسيل» بمديرية حطيب الجمعة الماضية بعد رصد تحركات مشبوهة لعناصر إرهابية حاولت التسلل لمواقع قريبة من تمركز قوات يمنية، مشيرة إلى أن الطوسلي قُتل إلى جانب عدد من مرافقيه خلال الاشتباك المباشر مع القوات الأمنية العسكرية في بلدة المصينعة (الجمعة).
وكان التنظيم قد اتخذ من «المصينعة» الجبلية معقلاً له قبل أن يتم تحريرها من قبل القوات الأمنية والعسكرية اليمنية، لكن هذه الفلول ظلت فارة في الجبال الممتدة من محافظة شبوة مروراً بمحافظة أبين وحتى مناطق الحوثي بمحافظة البيضاء التي تحولت إلى مركز رئيسي لتنظيمي داعش والقاعدة، وبحماية وتنسيق وتخادم مشترك بين التنظيم والحوثيين في تنفيذ الهجمات ضد القوات الحكومية، سواء بالألغام المفخخة والمموهة أو الطيران المسيّر.
وأقر تنظيم القاعدة الإرهابي في حسابات على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي بمقتل الطوسلي ووصفه بـ«أمير المصينعة»، وحاول تنفيذ هجمات خلال اليومين الماضيين عبر استخدام العبوات الناسفة والمفخخات، لكنه فشل وتمكنت القوات الحكومية من إحباط مختلف المحاولات.
من جهة أخرى، أعلنت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية اليوم (الثلاثاء) زيادة مبلغ المكافأة المعروضة سابقاً، مقابل الحصول على معلومات تقود للقبض على زعيم تنظيم القاعدة في شبه الجزيرة العربية سعد بن عاطف العولقي، ووفقاً لبيان برنامج مكافآت من أجل العدالة التابع لوزارة الخارجية الأمريكية فإن المكافأة تصل إلى 10ملايين دولار والانتقال إلى مكان آمن. وقال البرنامج: «إذا كانت لديك معلومات عن الإرهابي سعد بن عاطف العولقي، زعيم تنظيم القاعدة في شبه الجزيرة العربية، الموجود في اليمن، فأرسلها إلينا، قد تكون مؤهلاً للحصول على مكافأة تصل إلى 10 ملايين دولار، والانتقال إلى مكان آمن»، موضحاً أن العولقي المعروف أيضاً باسم سعد محمد عاطف، قاد هجمات ضد الولايات المتحدة، ونفذ عمليات خطف طالت عدداً من الرعايا الأمريكيين والغربيين في اليمن. وأشار إلى أن العولقي دعا إلى شن هجمات ضد الولايات المتحدة وحلفائها بصفته أمير تنظيم القاعدة المُصنف أمريكياً «منظمة إرهابية». وكان البرنامج قد أعلن في نوفمبر 2022 مكافآة قدرها 6 ملايين دولار مقابل معلومات عن العولقي، لكنه رفعها إلى 10 ملايين دولار.
Yemeni tribal sources confirmed today (Tuesday) the death of the leader of Al-Qaeda in the Al-Musayna area of Shabwa Governorate in southeastern Yemen, Abu Awad Saleh Al-Tawsili, during clashes with Yemeni security forces stationed between Shabwa and Abyan Governorates. The sources indicated that Al-Tawsili was one of the most dangerous leaders of Al-Qaeda and used the mountains stretching between Abyan and Shabwa as hideouts for his movements.
The sources explained that clashes erupted in the "Ard Al-Ghaseel" area in the Habil district last Friday after suspicious movements of terrorist elements were detected attempting to infiltrate positions near the concentration of Yemeni forces. They noted that Al-Tawsili was killed along with several of his companions during the direct engagement with the military security forces in the town of Al-Musayna (on Friday).
The organization had made the mountainous area of "Al-Musayna" its stronghold before it was liberated by Yemeni security and military forces. However, these remnants continued to flee in the mountains stretching from Shabwa Governorate through Abyan Governorate to the Houthi areas in Al-Bayda Governorate, which has turned into a major center for both ISIS and Al-Qaeda, with protection, coordination, and mutual assistance between the organization and the Houthis in carrying out attacks against government forces, whether through explosive and camouflaged mines or drone strikes.
The terrorist organization Al-Qaeda acknowledged the death of Al-Tawsili on social media accounts, describing him as the "Emir of Al-Musayna." They attempted to carry out attacks over the past two days using explosive devices and bombs, but they failed, and government forces managed to thwart various attempts.
On another note, the United States announced today (Tuesday) an increase in the reward amount previously offered for information leading to the capture of the leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Saad bin Atef Al-Awlaki. According to a statement from the Rewards for Justice program of the U.S. Department of State, the reward has reached up to $10 million and relocation to a safe location. The program stated: "If you have information about the terrorist Saad bin Atef Al-Awlaki, the leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, currently in Yemen, send it to us; you may be eligible for a reward of up to $10 million and relocation to a safe location." It clarified that Al-Awlaki, also known as Saad Mohammed Atef, led attacks against the United States and carried out kidnappings involving several American and Western nationals in Yemen. It noted that Al-Awlaki called for attacks against the United States and its allies as the Emir of Al-Qaeda, which is designated as a "terrorist organization" by the U.S. The program had announced in November 2022 a reward of $6 million for information about Al-Awlaki, but it has now raised it to $10 million.
