لم تستبعد الرئاسة الروسية مجدداً عقد لقاءات بين الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب ونظيره الروسي فلاديمير بوتين، رغم التوترات الأخيرة.
وقال المتحدث باسم الكرملين دميتري بيسكوف، للصحفيين، إن الأمر يتوقف على ما إذا تواجد الزعيمان في الصين بذات التوقيت، وفقاً لما أوردته وكالة الأنباء الروسية (تاس)، اليوم (الإثنين).
وأضاف أن اللقاء قد يجري في الصين في سبتمبر، إذ من المقرر أن يزور بوتين الصين بمناسبة الاحتفالات بذكرى مرور 80 عاماً على انتهاء الحرب العالمية الثانية. وقال: «إذا قرر الرئيس الأمريكي في النهاية زيارة الصين في هذه الأيام، فبالطبع لا يمكن نظرياً استبعاد انعقاد اجتماع من هذا النوع».
وكان بيسكوف علّق أوائل الشهر الجاري على التوترات مع أمريكا، وقال إنه يتعامل بهدوء مع الانتقادات التي وجهها الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أخيراً لنظيره الروسي فلاديمير بوتين. وأكد بيسكوف أن موسكو ترى رغبة واشنطن في تسوية الصراع الأوكراني بسرعة، لكن هذا غير ممكن بشكل فوري نظراً لتعقيد المشكلة.
وكان ترمب أعلن أنه وافق على إرسال أسلحة دفاعية أمريكية إلى أوكرانيا ويدرس فرض عقوبات إضافية على موسكو. وقال خلال اجتماع مع مسؤولين في البيت الأبيض: «لست راضياً عن بوتين. أستطيع أن أقول هذا الآن»، لافتاً إلى أن الجنود الروس والأوكرانيين يُقتلون بالآلاف.
ومنذ عودته إلى البيت الأبيض في يناير الماضي، يحاول ترمب إقناع بوتين بوقف الحرب لكن من دون تحقيق أي تقدم ملموس حتى الآن. وتعثرت الجهود الدبلوماسية بين موسكو وكييف. وفشلت جولتان من المحادثات بين الروس والأوكرانيين في تركيا، يومي 16 مايو و2 يونيو، في تحقيق تقدم كبير، ولم يعلن عن جولة ثالثة بعد.

The Russian presidency has not ruled out holding meetings between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, despite recent tensions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that it depends on whether the two leaders are in China at the same time, according to the Russian news agency (TASS) today (Monday).
He added that the meeting could take place in China in September, as Putin is scheduled to visit China to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. He said, "If the U.S. president ultimately decides to visit China during these days, then, of course, a meeting of this kind cannot be theoretically ruled out."
Peskov commented earlier this month on the tensions with the U.S., stating that he is calmly dealing with the criticisms that U.S. President Donald Trump recently directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin. Peskov confirmed that Moscow sees Washington's desire to resolve the Ukrainian conflict quickly, but this is not possible immediately due to the complexity of the issue.
Trump announced that he agreed to send U.S. defensive weapons to Ukraine and is considering imposing additional sanctions on Moscow. During a meeting with White House officials, he said, "I am not happy with Putin. I can say that now," noting that Russian and Ukrainian soldiers are being killed by the thousands.
Since returning to the White House last January, Trump has been trying to convince Putin to stop the war but has not made any tangible progress so far. Diplomatic efforts between Moscow and Kyiv have stalled. Two rounds of talks between Russians and Ukrainians in Turkey, on May 16 and June 2, failed to achieve significant progress, and no third round has been announced yet.
