في ظل تصاعد جرائم الإبادة والتجويع في غزة، أعلنت البرازيل اليوم (الخميس) عزمها الانضمام إلى الشكوى التي قدمتها جنوب أفريقيا أمام محكمة العدل الدولية التي تتهم إسرائيل بارتكاب «إبادة» في القطاع المحاصر.
وأوضحت وزارة الخارجية البرازيلية أنها في المرحلة النهائية من التقدم بطلب رسمي للانضمام إلى الدعوى التي بدأتها جنوب أفريقيا أمام محكمة العدل الدولية، وهي أعلى هيئة قضائية في الأمم المتحدة ومقرها لاهاي، وذلك بعد انضمام بوليفيا وكولومبيا وليبيا وإسبانيا والمكسيك إلى الشكوى.
وكانت محكمة العدل الدولية قد أصدرت في يناير عام 2024 ومارس ومايو من العام نفسه قرارات بإدانة إسرائيل في جرائم الإبادة، مؤكدة أن الاحتلال لم يبذل قصارى جهده لتجنب أعمال الإبادة خلال عملياته العسكرية في قطاع غزة.
في الوقت ذاته، وقع 60 نائباً برلمانياً أوروبياً رسالة طالبوا فيها بتحرك فوري إزاء الوضع الإنساني الكارثي في غزة، مؤكدين إن أطفال غزة يموتون جوعاً، والاتحاد الأوروبي يرد بكلمات ضعيفة دون أي فعل.
ودعا الموقعون إلى تقديم حزمة عقوبات ضد إسرائيل لاعتمادها في مجلس الشؤون الخارجية للاتحاد، مقترحين فرض عقوبات على مؤسسة غزة الإنسانية وأفراد يعملون فيها.
وأشاروا إلى أن التاريخ لن يرحم صمت الاتحاد الأوروبي وتواطأه في مواجهة المجاعة والإبادة في غزة، مشددين على ضرورة التحرك بشكل عاجل وعدم ترك الفلسطينيين في غزة للجوع والقتل ومعلنين رفضهم للمعايير المزدوجة أو الصمت أو التواطؤ بشأن ما يحدث في غزة.
وكان المفوض العام للأونروا ذكر أن 1 من كل 5 أطفال في مدينة غزة يعاني سوء التغذية والحالات تتزايد يومياً، مؤكداً ارتفاع معدل سوء التغذية بين الأطفال في قطاع غزة وشبح المجاعة يتمدد بصمت.
وأشار إلى أن معظم الأطفال في غزة نحيلون وضعفاء ويواجهون خطر الموت ما لم يتلقوا علاجاً عاجلاً، مجدداً دعوته العاجلة للسماح للشركاء الإنسانيين بإدخال المساعدات لغزة دون قيد أو انقطاع.

In light of the escalating crimes of genocide and starvation in Gaza, Brazil announced today (Thursday) its intention to join the complaint filed by South Africa before the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of committing "genocide" in the besieged territory.
The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that it is in the final stages of submitting an official request to join the case initiated by South Africa before the International Court of Justice, which is the highest judicial body in the United Nations based in The Hague, following the joining of Bolivia, Colombia, Libya, Spain, and Mexico to the complaint.
The International Court of Justice had issued rulings in January 2024 and in March and May of the same year condemning Israel for acts of genocide, confirming that the occupation did not make its utmost effort to avoid acts of genocide during its military operations in the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, 60 European parliamentarians signed a letter calling for immediate action regarding the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, emphasizing that children in Gaza are dying of hunger, while the European Union responds with weak words without any action.
The signatories called for a package of sanctions against Israel to be adopted in the EU's Foreign Affairs Council, proposing to impose sanctions on the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and individuals working within it.
They pointed out that history will not forgive the silence and complicity of the European Union in the face of famine and genocide in Gaza, stressing the need for urgent action and not leaving the Palestinians in Gaza to hunger and killing, and declaring their rejection of double standards, silence, or complicity regarding what is happening in Gaza.
The UNRWA Commissioner-General mentioned that 1 in 5 children in Gaza City suffers from malnutrition, with cases increasing daily, confirming the rising rate of malnutrition among children in the Gaza Strip and the specter of famine silently expanding.
He noted that most children in Gaza are thin and weak and face the risk of death unless they receive urgent treatment, reiterating his urgent call to allow humanitarian partners to deliver aid to Gaza without restriction or interruption.
