استقبل الرئيس المصري عبدالفتاح السيسي، اليوم (الأحد)، قائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية الفريق أول مايكل كوريلا، بحضور وزير الدفاع المصري الفريق أول عبدالمجيد صقر، وسفيرة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في القاهرة هيرو مصطفى.
وبحسب بيان صادر عن رئاسة الجمهوريه المصرية، نقل الفريق كوريلا إلى الرئيس السيسي تحيات الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، وهو ما ثمّنه الرئيس المصري، مؤكداً عمق العلاقات الإستراتيجية التي تجمع بين مصر والولايات المتحدة.
وتناول اللقاء سبل تطوير التعاون الثنائي والتنسيق المشترك في المجالات كافة، لا سيما العسكرية والأمنية، وضرورة تعزيز هذا التعاون في ظل حرص الجانبين على دعم الأمن والاستقرار على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي.
وأضاف المتحدث باسم رئاسة الجمهورية المصرية السفير محمد الشناوي، أن اللقاء تطرق إلى تطورات الأوضاع في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، إذ أكد السيسي استمرار مصر في جهودها المكثفة للتوصل إلى وقف إطلاق النار في قطاع غزة، وتبادل الرهائن والمحتجزين، واستئناف دخول المساعدات الإنسانية بشكل عاجل.
كما أشاد السيسي بمساعي ترمب نحو وقف إطلاق النار، مؤكداً أهمية إحياء مسار السلام والسعي لتحقيق سلام واستقرار دائمين في المنطقة.
وشهد اللقاء توافقاً حول ضرورة خفض التصعيد في المنطقة، والسعي نحو حلول سياسية ومستدامة للأزمات الراهنة، بما يسهم في تعزيز السلم والاستقرار الإقليمي.
كما تناول اللقاء مستجدات الأوضاع في سورية وليبيا والسودان والقرن الأفريقي.
وتناول اللقاء أيضاً ملف المياه، وأكد السيسي الأهمية القصوى لقضية نهر النيل باعتبارها قضية أمن قومي لمصر.
The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the Commander of the U.S. Central Command, General Michael Kurilla, today (Sunday), in the presence of Egyptian Defense Minister General Abdel-Majid Saker and the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Hero Mustafa.
According to a statement issued by the Egyptian presidency, General Kurilla conveyed the greetings of U.S. President Donald Trump to President El-Sisi, which the Egyptian president appreciated, affirming the depth of the strategic relations between Egypt and the United States.
The meeting discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation and joint coordination in all fields, especially military and security, and the necessity of enhancing this cooperation in light of both sides' commitment to supporting security and stability at the regional and international levels.
The spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, added that the meeting touched on developments in the Middle East, where El-Sisi confirmed Egypt's continued intensive efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the exchange of hostages and detainees, and the urgent resumption of humanitarian aid entry.
El-Sisi also praised Trump's efforts towards a ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of reviving the peace process and striving for lasting peace and stability in the region.
The meeting witnessed an agreement on the necessity of de-escalation in the region and the pursuit of political and sustainable solutions to the current crises, contributing to enhancing regional peace and stability.
The meeting also addressed the latest developments in Syria, Libya, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa.
Additionally, the meeting discussed the water issue, with El-Sisi emphasizing the utmost importance of the Nile River issue as a matter of national security for Egypt.
