Four people were killed and 11 others were injured in a collision between a passenger van and a truck on the Siwa-Marsa Matrouh road.

The Matrouh Ambulance Service received a report today (Saturday) about a collision involving a passenger transport vehicle (microbus) at kilometer 100 on the Marsa Matrouh-Siwa road.

Marsa Matrouh Hospital received 4 fatalities and 11 injured individuals, and the injured received the necessary medical care, with injuries varying from fractures, bruises, and abrasions to brain hemorrhages. The bodies of the deceased were transferred to the hospital's morgue and were placed under the authority of the public prosecution.

Several days ago, the regional road in the Menoufia Governorate witnessed incidents that resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.

One traffic accident resulted in the death of 9 people and the injury of 11 others, just a few days after another traffic accident that claimed the lives of 19 girls, which sparked widespread anger in Egyptian streets over the recurrence of such incidents.

The Egyptian authorities decided to extend the closure of the regional road connecting Cairo to several Egyptian governorates until August 1st due to the repeated accidents.

The Ministry of Transport announced in an official statement last Wednesday that the temporary total closure of the direction coming from the intersection of the regional road with the Alexandria Desert Road, and up to the intersection of the regional road with the Suez Desert Road, has been extended until Friday, August 1st.
