أعلنت السلطات الإندونيسية اليوم (الخميس) مصرع 4 أشخاص وإنقاذ 23 آخرين، فيما لا يزال 38 شخصا آخرين على الأقل في عداد المفقودين إثر غرق عبّارة كانت تقل 65 شخصاً في بحر هائج قبالة جزيرة بالي الليلة الماضية.
وقال قائد شرطة بانيوانغي في شرق جاوة، راما سامتما بوترا، إن فرق الإنقاذ عثرت على 4 جثث وتم إنقاذ 23 شخصاً، كان العديد منهم فاقدون للوعي بعد أن جرفهم التيار لساعات وسط أمواج متلاطمة، مشيرا إلى أن 38 شخصا آخرين لا يزالون في عداد المفقودين.
فيما قال واهيو سيتيابودي، منسق مركز البحث والإنقاذ في بانيووانجي، إن العبارة، «كيه إم بي تونا براتاما جابا»، غادرت ميناء كيتابانج في جاوة الشرقية الساعة 10:56 مساء بالتوقيت المحلي (15:56 بتوقيت غرينتش) أمس (الأربعاء) وأرسلت إشارة استغاثة بعد أكثر من 20 دقيقة بقليل، مضيفا أنها كانت في طريقها إلى ميناء جيليمانوك في بالي.
وأشار إلى أن العبارة تقل 53 راكبا و12 من أفراد الطاقم، فضلا عن 82 مركبة، معظمها شاحنات كبيرة.

في حين ذكرت وكالة البحث والإنقاذ في سورابايا، ثاني كبرى مدن البلاد، في بيان أن العبارة غرقت بعد نحو نصف ساعة من مغادرتها ميناء كيتابانغ في جاوة الشرقية في رحلة تبلغ مسافتها 50 كيلومترا، مبينة أنها كانت تحمل 22 مركبة، بما في ذلك 14 شاحنة.
وأشارت السلطات إلى أن 9 قوارب، من بينها زورقا قَطْر وقاربان مطاطيان، في عمليات البحث منذ مساء أمس، رغم مواجهة أمواجٍ يبلغ ارتفاعها مترين وظروف الظلام الدامس.
يذكر أن حوادث غرق العبارات شائعة في إندونيسيا، الأرخبيل الشاسع المؤلف من نحو 17 ألف جزيرة، وتُستخدم العبارات على نطاق واسع كوسيلة نقل، وغالباً ما تكون لوائح السلامة غير مُطبقة بصرامة.

Police Chief of Banyuwangi in East Java, Rama Samtama Putra, stated that rescue teams found 4 bodies and rescued 23 people, many of whom were unconscious after being swept away by the current for hours amid crashing waves, noting that 38 other people are still missing.
Wahyu Setiabudi, coordinator of the search and rescue center in Banyuwangi, said that the ferry, "KMP Tuna Pratama Jaba," left Ketapang port in East Java at 10:56 PM local time (15:56 GMT) yesterday (Wednesday) and sent a distress signal after just over 20 minutes, adding that it was en route to Gilimanuk port in Bali.
He noted that the ferry was carrying 53 passengers and 12 crew members, as well as 82 vehicles, most of which were large trucks.

Meanwhile, the search and rescue agency in Surabaya, the country's second-largest city, stated in a statement that the ferry sank about half an hour after leaving Ketapang port in East Java on a journey of 50 kilometers, indicating that it was carrying 22 vehicles, including 14 trucks.
Authorities mentioned that 9 boats, including two tugboats and two rubber boats, have been involved in the search since last night, despite facing waves reaching two meters high and conditions of complete darkness.
It is worth noting that ferry sinking incidents are common in Indonesia, the vast archipelago consisting of about 17,000 islands, and ferries are widely used as a means of transport, often with safety regulations not being strictly enforced.
