With the early hours of the ceasefire between Israel and Iran coming into effect today (Tuesday), U.S. President Donald Trump attributed the success of finalizing the deal to the American strikes that targeted Iranian nuclear facilities last Saturday.
Trump stated in a post on the "Truth Social" platform: "We would not have been able to make a deal today without the talent and courage of the amazing B-2 bomber pilots and everyone involved in that operation." He added that the strike, which he described as perfect and with a strange paradox, brought both sides together, as he put it.
He urged both parties not to violate the truce. He wrote: "The ceasefire is now in effect, please do not violate it." Trump revealed that both countries came at almost the same time seeking "peace," as he expressed. He considered that the future of Israel and Iran is filled with opportunities and prosperity. He wrote: "The world and the Middle East are the real winners! Both countries will witness immense love, peace, and prosperity in their future." He said that both Israel and Iran have much to gain, but they will lose a lot if they stray from the path.
Trump had announced that the ceasefire agreement between the two sides would take effect at 4 a.m. (GMT), which occurred later after Iran launched its last waves of
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a statement "the conclusion of a comprehensive ceasefire agreement with Iran, following intensive diplomatic and security efforts."
Last Saturday, the United States launched strikes via B-2 bombers on the heavily fortified Iranian "Fordow" nuclear facility, as well as Isfahan and Natanz.
Satellite images showed destruction at the site, particularly at the entrances of the facility.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated in a post on "X" earlier: "His country will stop the attacks as soon as Israel halts its strikes." He said, "So far, there is no agreement on any ceasefire or halt to military operations." He added that if "the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people by 4 a.m. Tehran time, we have no intention of continuing our response thereafter."
