Erol Musk (the father of billionaire Elon Musk) acknowledged that his son made a mistake by publicly challenging U.S. President Donald Trump. He attributed the reason for their dispute to both suffering from pressure, in statements to Russian media in Moscow.

“As you know, they have been under a lot of pressure for five months, so let’s give them a break. They are exhausted and extremely stressed, so we can expect something like this,” Erol Musk told the newspaper “Izvestia” during a visit to the Russian capital. He confirmed that “Trump will prevail, as he is the president and was elected to the position. So, you know, I think Elon made a mistake. But he is tired and stressed.” Erol Musk considered the disagreement to be “just a small thing and it will end tomorrow.”

Musk and Trump began exchanging sharp criticisms last week on social media when Musk criticized a bill proposed by Trump to cut taxes and spending, describing it as “ugly and disgusting.”

The U.S. president announced last Saturday that his relationship with billionaire businessman Elon Musk, who donated to his campaign, had ended, and warned that there would be “serious consequences” if Musk funded Democrats against Republicans who would support Trump’s comprehensive tax and spending cut bill.

Musk funded a large part of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and was appointed to lead efforts to reduce the size of the federal workforce and cut spending.

White House officials stated that Trump continued to focus on his legislative agenda and spending cut plans, even though the confrontation between him and Musk became a focal point of interest in Washington.

White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt reported that President Trump and the entire administration’s mission is to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse of funds in the federal government on behalf of taxpayers. Passing the big and beautiful bill is a critical factor in helping achieve this mission.
