The U.S. administration has halted the supply of a key anti-drone technology that was designated for Kyiv and returned it to U.S. forces in the Middle East, according to informed American sources.

The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) secretly informed Congress last week that special valves for missiles used by Ukraine to shoot down Russian drones will now be allocated to U.S. Air Force units in the Middle East.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the Pentagon informed the Senate Armed Services Committee in a previously undisclosed letter that the U.S. military's need for these valves represents "an urgent matter identified by the Secretary of Defense."

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth allowed in an internal memo last month for the Joint Rapid Acquisition Cell, a Pentagon office that ensures the needs of commanders for weapons are met, to provide the valves to the Air Force even though they were initially designated for Ukraine.

The American decision comes at a time when Ukraine is preparing for further Russian drone and missile attacks.

Trump announced yesterday (Wednesday) that Russian President Vladimir Putin informed him in a phone call that Moscow would have to respond forcefully to the recent Ukrainian drone attacks, which weakens the prospects of halting the war that began in early 2022.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense was absent from a meeting at NATO headquarters yesterday with European defense ministers to discuss coordinating military aid to Ukraine.
