بريطانيا تدعم أوكرانيا بـ 100 ألف طائرة مُسيّرة

Britain has pledged to supply Ukraine with 100,000 drones, coinciding with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's changes at the top of the military leadership. It revealed that it has completed the shipment of 140,000 artillery shells to Ukraine since January and that it will spend £247 million this year to train Ukrainian forces.

The British government announced today (Wednesday) that the drones will be delivered by the end of the current financial year in April 2026, after confirming that drones have changed the strategies of waging wars.

It considered that these drones, valued at £350 million, equivalent to $473 million, are part of a broader military initiative for Ukraine worth £4.5 billion (about $6 billion). Defense Secretary John Healy is expected to announce the decision at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which includes 50 countries, in Brussels.

Before the meeting, Healy announced that Britain is intensifying its support for Ukraine by delivering hundreds of thousands of drones this year and completing a significant achievement in delivering crucial artillery ammunition.

Defense ministers of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group are scheduled to hold a meeting today (Wednesday) to coordinate and enhance military support for Kyiv.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov will brief the country's allies on the developments in the battlefield, in addition to outlining Ukraine's most urgent needs.

For his part, the Ukrainian president dismissed military leaders and announced last night (Tuesday) that former army commander Mykhailo Drahatiy has been relieved of organizational duties such as mobilization, training, and equipping recruits, noting that he has been appointed commander of the joint forces so that he can focus 100% on the front.

The reduction of Drahatiy's (42 years old) responsibilities came after a deadly Russian missile attack targeted a military training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in the deaths of 12 Ukrainian soldiers and injuries to dozens. Zelensky appointed Oleksandr Abustol as commander of the paratroopers and Robert Provdi as commander of the drone units. He stated that Vadym Sukharievsky will take on the task of updating the entire command structure as the new deputy commander of the Eastern Army Group.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post reported that satellite images and videos showed damage to 13 Russian aircraft as a result of the Ukrainian attack on military bases.

It quoted experts confirming that the damaged aircraft included 8 long-range "Tu-95" bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
