أعلن رئيس الوزراء المجري فيكتور أوربان اليوم (الأحد) معارضته لانضمام أوكرانيا إلى الاتحاد الأوروبي، مؤكداً أن التسرع في انضمامها للاتحاد يشكل تهديداً للمصالح الوطنية المجرية ويجب عدم السماح به.
وقال أوربان خلال كلمة أمام ناشطي الحزب الحاكم: «عضوية أوكرانيا في الاتحاد الأوروبي تشكل التهديد الأكبر»، مضيفاً: أوكرانيا تحتاج إلى أموال إضافية، ولهذا السبب تريد الانضمام إلى الاتحاد الأوروبي بأي ثمن.
وشدد بالقول: لا نريد أن يحوّلوا أكثر بلدان أوروبا أماناً إلى وكر للمافيا، ولا نريد أن تتدفق الأموال المجرية إلى أوكرانيا عبر بروكسل. لا، لا، ولا مرة أخرى.
وانطلقت مفاوضات العضوية الأوروبية بين الاتحاد الأوروبي وأوكرانيا رسميا في يونيو 2024، لكنها ربما تستمر لسنوات خصوصاً أن الاتحاد قد منح وضع المرشح للعضوية لأوكرانيا في مبادرة رمزية.
ويظهر الخلاف بين أوكرانيا والمجر معارضة أوربان لانضمام كييف إلى الاتحاد، وقد وجه الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي، الخميس، انتقاداً غير مباشر للمجر جراء عرقلتها انضمام بلاده، قائلاً إن من يمنع قرارات تؤثر على الجميع في القارة يعد «مناهضاً لأوروبا».
وأضاف زيلينسكي، في مداخلة عبر تقنية الفيديو خلال قمة قادة الاتحاد الأوروبي في بروكسل: «عندما يمنع شخص واحد قرارات مهمة للقارة بأكملها أو تم الاتفاق عليها بالفعل، فإنه يعد ذلك مناهضاً لأوروبا ببساطة»، رغم أن زيلينسكي لم يحدد أي دولة بالاسم، لكن المجر كانت قد منعت مؤخراً صدور بيانات مشتركة للاتحاد الأوروبي بشأن أوكرانيا.
The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced today (Sunday) his opposition to Ukraine's accession to the European Union, asserting that rushing its membership poses a threat to Hungarian national interests and should not be allowed.
Orbán stated during a speech to ruling party activists: "Ukraine's membership in the European Union poses the greatest threat," adding: Ukraine needs additional funds, and that is why it wants to join the EU at any cost.
He emphasized: We do not want them to turn one of the safest countries in Europe into a den of mafia, and we do not want Hungarian money to flow to Ukraine through Brussels. No, no, and no again.
The European membership negotiations between the EU and Ukraine officially began in June 2024, but they may take years, especially since the EU granted candidate status to Ukraine in a symbolic initiative.
The disagreement between Ukraine and Hungary shows Orbán's opposition to Kyiv's accession to the EU, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Hungary indirectly on Thursday for obstructing his country's membership, stating that those who prevent decisions affecting everyone on the continent are "anti-Europe."
Zelensky added, in a video intervention during the EU leaders' summit in Brussels: "When one person prevents important decisions for the entire continent or those that have already been agreed upon, they are simply anti-Europe," although Zelensky did not name any specific country, but Hungary had recently blocked the issuance of joint EU statements regarding Ukraine.
