أعلنت الملحقية الثقافية السعودية في الولايات المتحدة أن عدد المبتعثين والمبتعثات السعوديين في تخصصات الفضاء وعلومه بلغ 267 طالبًا وطالبة في جامعات أمريكية متعددة، مؤكدةً اتساع انتشارهم الجغرافي وتنوع مساراتهم الأكاديمية بين التخصصات الهندسية والعلمية والعملياتية، وذلك تزامنًا مع (أسبوع الفضاء العالمي).
مسارات متعددة
وأوضحت الملحقية أن برامج المبتعثين تشمل طيفًا واسعًا من المسارات، من بينها: هندسة الطيران والفضاء، وعلوم وهندسة الفضاء، والفيزياء والفلك، والفيزياء الفلكية، واستكشاف الأرض والفضاء، وإدارة وعمليات الفضاء الجوي، وأمن الفضاء الجوي، وعمليات الفضاء، إلى جانب مسارات مهنية متقدمة في الطيران الاحترافي وإدارة الطيران.
وقال الملحق الثقافي السعودي في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا والمشرف على دول أمريكا الجنوبية الدكتورة تهاني البيز في تصريح لوكالة الأنباء السعودية: «نفتخر بأبناء وبنات الوطن المبتعثين في مجالات الفضاء وعلومه؛ فهم يمثلون استثمار المملكة الأهم في رأس المال البشري، ويعكس تميزهم الأكاديمي والبحثي التزام منظومة التعليم بدعم التخصصات المستقبلية المتوائمة مع مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030، وتطلعات الهيئة السعودية للفضاء في بناء قطاع تنافسي قائم على المعرفة والشراكات الدولية».
تعزيز منظومة الابتكار
وأضافت «إن الانتشار الواسع لطلبتنا في جامعات أمريكية مرموقة، ومشاركتهم في المختبرات ومشاريع الأقمار الصناعية وأنظمة الملاحة والتحكم والاستشعار عن بُعد، يمد سوق العمل السعودي بكفاءات مؤهلة، ويعزز منظومة البحث والابتكار في تقنيات الفضاء والتطبيقات ذات الأثر الاقتصادي والتنموي».
وبيّنت الملحقية أن حضور المبتعثين في هذه التخصصات يسهم في توطين الصناعات الفضائية، ورفع كفاءة المنظومة الوطنية للبحث والتطوير والابتكار، وتوسيع قاعدة التعاون العلمي بين الجامعات السعودية ونظيراتها في الولايات المتحدة، مع تشجيع الطلبة على الانخراط في برامج التدريب التعاوني والأبحاث المشتركة ونشر الأوراق العلمية في المجلات المتخصصة.
وأكدت الملحقية أن الاحتفاء بـ (أسبوع الفضاء العالمي) يُعد فرصة لإبراز قصص النجاح السعودية في هذا المجال الحيوي، وتأكيد تكامل الأدوار بين وزارة التعليم والجهات الوطنية المعنية بالفضاء لدعم التنافسية عالميًّا.
The Saudi Cultural Attaché in the United States announced that the number of Saudi male and female scholarship students in space and its sciences has reached 267 students at various American universities, confirming their geographical spread and the diversity of their academic paths among engineering, scientific, and operational disciplines, coinciding with (World Space Week).
Multiple Paths
The Attaché clarified that the scholarship programs encompass a wide range of paths, including: aerospace engineering, space science and engineering, physics and astronomy, astrophysics, earth and space exploration, airspace management and operations, airspace security, and space operations, in addition to advanced professional paths in professional aviation and aviation management.
The Saudi Cultural Attaché in the United States and Canada, and supervisor of South American countries, Dr. Tahani Al-Biz, stated in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency: “We are proud of the sons and daughters of the nation who are studying in the fields of space and its sciences; they represent the Kingdom's most important investment in human capital, and their academic and research excellence reflects the education system's commitment to supporting future disciplines aligned with the objectives of Vision 2030, and the aspirations of the Saudi Space Authority in building a competitive sector based on knowledge and international partnerships.”
Enhancing the Innovation System
She added, “The widespread presence of our students in prestigious American universities, and their participation in laboratories, satellite projects, navigation and control systems, and remote sensing, provides the Saudi job market with qualified competencies and enhances the research and innovation system in space technologies and applications with economic and developmental impact.”
The Attaché indicated that the presence of scholarship students in these disciplines contributes to localizing space industries, improving the efficiency of the national research, development, and innovation system, and expanding the base of scientific cooperation between Saudi universities and their counterparts in the United States, while encouraging students to engage in cooperative training programs, joint research, and publishing scientific papers in specialized journals.
The Attaché emphasized that celebrating (World Space Week) is an opportunity to highlight Saudi success stories in this vital field and to confirm the integration of roles between the Ministry of Education and the national entities concerned with space to support global competitiveness.
