تسلّم رئيس جامعة الإمام عبدالرحمن بن فيصل الأستاذ الدكتور فهد بن أحمد الحربي شهادات الاعتماد الأكاديمي من الكلية الملكية للأطباء والجراحين في كندا، وذلك في مبنى كلية الطب بالمدينة الطبية الأكاديمية، لعدد من البرامج التدريبية للأطباء المقيمين في كلية الطب، في خطوة تُعد إنجازاً نوعياً يعكس ريادة الجامعة في تطوير التعليم الطبي على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي. وأكد رئيس الجامعة أن هذا الإنجاز لا يمثل نقطة نهاية، بل هو بداية لطموحات أكبر في تحقيق التميز والريادة في القطاعين الصحي والتعليمي، وفق رؤية وطنية طموحة.
وجرت مراسم التسليم بحضور المدير التنفيذي للتشغيل في الكلية الملكية للأطباء والجراحين في كندا مستر كريج ساباتيلي، ورئيسة مجلس إدارة الكلية الملكية للأطباء والجراحين في كندا للتعاون الدولي الأستاذة الدكتورة نارمان قسام، وعميد كلية الطب الأستاذ الدكتور محمد الشهراني، وعدد من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والأطباء، حيث تم منح الاعتماد الدولي لـ3 برامج، وهي: برنامج الجراحة التأسيسية، وتسلّمه الدكتور زياد الغامدي، وبرنامج الباطنة، وتسلّمته الدكتورة عبير السعيد، وبرنامج طب الأطفال، وتسلّمه الدكتور محمد العمري، إضافة إلى الاعتمادات السابقة لبرنامج الطب النفسي وبرنامج طب الأعصاب.
وذكر عميد كلية الطب الأستاذ الدكتور محمد الشهراني أن هذا الاعتماد يُعد الأول من نوعه في المملكة على مستوى المؤسسات التعليمية والطبية، حيث أصبحت جامعة الإمام عبد الرحمن بن فيصل أول جامعة سعودية تحصل على الاعتماد المؤسسي من الكلية الملكية للأطباء والجراحين في كندا، ولأول مرة خارج كندا يتم اعتماد 5 برامج من قبل الكلية الملكية في مؤسسة تعليمية، ويُعتبر إنجازاً عالمياً غير مسبوق من ناحية عدد البرامج المعتمدة.
جودة تدريب تعادل نظيراتها في كندا
وأضاف أن هذا الاعتماد يُمنح بناءً على تقييم دقيق وشامل لمنهجية التدريب وجودة المخرجات، ويؤكد أن البرامج المعتمدة في كلية الطب بالجامعة تقدم تدريباً يُضاهي ما يُقدّم في الجامعات الكندية. ويتميّز هذا النموذج التدريبي بالتركيز على كفاءة المهارات السريرية وتقييم الأداء بشكل فردي ومهني، بدلاً من الاكتفاء بالتقييمات العامة، ما يجعل المتدرب الذي أنهى جميع متطلبات التدريب مؤهلاً للجلوس لامتحانات الكلية الملكية للأطباء والجراحين في كندا (RCPSC).
كما أفاد بأن إجمالي برامج الزمالة في كلية الطب بالجامعة يبلغ حالياً 17 برنامجاً تدريبياً معتمداً من هيئة تقويم التعليم والتدريب السعودية، ومن هيئات دولية مرموقة، وجارٍ العمل على استكمال اعتماد جميع البرامج في المرحلة القادمة من قبل الكلية الملكية للأطباء والجراحين في كندا.
مراكز متقدمة وممتحنون خارجيون
وأشار إلى أن الحصول على الاعتماد الدولي ساهمت فيه عدة مقومات نوعية داخل الكلية، أبرزها مركز المحاكاة الطبية الأكبر في المنطقة المتخصص في التدريب على المجسمات والأنسجة الحية، ووجود ممتحنين خارجيين لجميع البرامج في الامتحانات النهائية، ما عزز مصداقية وجودة التقييم، إضافة إلى تنوع وكفاءة أعضاء هيئة التدريس من مختلف دول العالم وحرصهم على تطوير الأداء الأكاديمي والتدريبي.
رافد لتحقيق مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030
ويأتي هذا الإنجاز تماشياً مع مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030، من خلال رفع جودة التعليم الطبي وتطوير مهارات الخريجين، وتحسين كفاءة الأطباء السعوديين بما يواكب متطلبات سوق العمل، وتحسين جودة الرعاية الصحية المقدمة للمرضى من خلال مخرجات تعليمية عالية المستوى.
التزام بالتميز المستدام
وتُعد هذه الخطوة بداية لمرحلة جديدة من التميز الأكاديمي في التعليم الطبي على مستوى المملكة والمنطقة، حيث ستُسهم في توسيع فرص التعاون الدولي، وتعزيز مكانة الجامعة كمركز معتمد لتدريب الأطباء وفق أعلى المعايير العالمية.
The President of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Professor Dr. Fahd bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, received the academic accreditation certificates from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This took place in the College of Medicine building at the Academic Medical City for several training programs for resident physicians at the College of Medicine, marking a significant achievement that reflects the university's leadership in developing medical education at both regional and international levels. The university president emphasized that this achievement does not represent an endpoint but is rather the beginning of greater ambitions to achieve excellence and leadership in the health and education sectors, in line with an ambitious national vision.
The handover ceremony was attended by Mr. Craig Sabatelli, Executive Director of Operations at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Narman Qassem, Chair of the International Cooperation Board of the Royal College, Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Shahrani, and several faculty members and physicians. Accreditation was granted to three programs: the foundational surgery program, received by Dr. Ziad Al-Ghamdi; the internal medicine program, received by Dr. Abeer Al-Saeed; and the pediatrics program, received by Dr. Mohammed Al-Amri, in addition to previous accreditations for the psychiatry and neurology programs.
Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Shahrani, stated that this accreditation is the first of its kind in the Kingdom at the level of educational and medical institutions, as Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University has become the first Saudi university to obtain institutional accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. For the first time outside Canada, five programs have been accredited by the college within an educational institution, representing an unprecedented global achievement in terms of the number of accredited programs.
Training Quality Comparable to Canadian Standards
He added that this accreditation is granted based on a precise and comprehensive evaluation of the training methodology and the quality of outcomes, confirming that the accredited programs at the university's College of Medicine provide training that is comparable to that offered at Canadian universities. This training model is distinguished by its focus on clinical skills competency and individual and professional performance assessment, rather than relying solely on general evaluations, making the trainee who has completed all training requirements eligible to sit for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) examinations.
He also noted that the total number of fellowship programs at the university's College of Medicine currently stands at 17 accredited training programs by the Saudi Commission for Academic Accreditation and Training, as well as by prestigious international bodies, with efforts underway to complete the accreditation of all programs in the next phase by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Advanced Centers and External Examiners
He pointed out that the achievement of international accreditation was supported by several qualitative factors within the college, most notably the largest medical simulation center in the region specializing in training on models and live tissues, and the presence of external examiners for all programs in the final examinations, which enhanced the credibility and quality of the assessment, in addition to the diversity and competence of faculty members from various countries around the world and their commitment to improving academic and training performance.
A Catalyst for Achieving the Goals of Vision 2030
This achievement aligns with the goals of Vision 2030 by enhancing the quality of medical education, developing graduates' skills, improving the efficiency of Saudi physicians to meet labor market demands, and improving the quality of healthcare provided to patients through high-level educational outcomes.
