The Eastern Province Municipality revealed its efforts during the first half of the current year, as part of its field monitoring plans to enhance commercial compliance, maintain public order in markets and commercial facilities, and reduce violations. This was achieved through the implementation of periodic and joint monitoring programs with the relevant authorities in the region.

It clarified that during the past six months, it conducted 2,560 field visits to commercial establishments and public markets in the Dammam region, during which several observations were recorded, and municipal violations were documented, aiming to ensure that establishments comply with regulations and laws, and to enhance the quality of the commercial environment.

The monitoring rounds included the observation and apprehension of 49 violating street vendors, as well as the execution of targeted and periodic campaigns against street vendors in several vital locations, resulting in the apprehension of 292 violators. This was done in cooperation and coordination with the relevant security authorities, in an effort to reduce the phenomenon of unregulated street selling and to maintain public safety and urban appearance.

Additionally, more than 47 tons of abandoned items and random waste were removed from the markets, as part of its efforts in cleanliness and addressing visual distortions, positively reflecting on the market environment and consumer health, and contributing to the improvement of the overall urban scene.

It also inspected 14 public auctions in the region, where work teams ensure the legality of procedures, apply safety requirements, and verify that the site is free from any violating or random practices that could affect sales movement or harm consumers.

For his part, the Assistant Secretary for Services at the Eastern Province Municipality, Mahmoud Al-Ratou'i, noted that the municipality continues to enhance the efficiency of the field monitoring system through specialized teams and ongoing cooperation with security and regulatory authorities. He pointed out that these efforts come within the framework of improving service quality and achieving beneficiary satisfaction, adding that what has been accomplished during the first half of the year reflects the seriousness of the work and the integration of roles among various concerned departments.

He indicated that the municipality operates according to a comprehensive plan to monitor markets and control violations on a daily basis, and that work teams operate with high efficiency to ensure market organization and improve the commercial environment. He emphasized that cooperation with security and municipal authorities has played a pivotal role in controlling violations and organizing market movement, noting that the municipality is working on continuously developing monitoring tools and interacting with community reports within an advanced digital system.
