The King Fahd Hospital in Medina received two critical cases of pancreatic injuries within one week, reflecting the efficiency of coordination among emergency, consulting, and medical entities, and the quick response to provide specialized care in a timely manner.

The Medina Health Cluster explained that the first case arrived at King Fahd Hospital due to a traffic accident, as the injury pathway received a report about a young man in his thirties who sustained multiple injuries from the traffic incident.

The health cluster indicated that the injured person was immediately transferred to King Fahd Hospital by air ambulance due to the need for urgent surgical intervention. Medical examinations revealed a pancreatic injury and free air in the abdominal cavity, necessitating an emergency surgery that included resection of the affected part of the pancreas, repair of the spleen, and resection of a portion of the small intestine with reconnection. The patient's condition stabilized after the surgery, and he received care in the trauma surgery department, leaving the hospital in good health.

Regarding the second case, the Medina Health Cluster confirmed that King Fahd Hospital received a young man in his twenties who arrived at the emergency department after sustaining an injury from a sharp object in the abdomen, which caused a portion of the fatty membrane to protrude. After conducting the necessary examinations, the patient was directly transferred to the operating room to repair the stomach wall and address the pancreatic injury through surgical intervention, which was successful, and he left the hospital in good health.

These two cases exemplify the effectiveness of the injury and accident pathway and its role in enhancing rapid medical response, achieving integration between field entities and specialized facilities, contributing to saving lives and achieving successful treatment outcomes within the Medina Health Cluster system.
