All sectors and relevant entities involved in the Hajj and Umrah operations in Medina have intensified their readiness for the departure of pilgrims and the reception of Umrah performers, providing all necessary facilities.
The Emir of the Medina region has conducted a field visit to oversee the operational system at the Prophet's Mosque.
The city is currently experiencing a rise in temperatures, and the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques is working to provide all aspects that contribute to protecting visitors and worshippers from heat strokes. Large canopies cover a vast area of the Prophet's Mosque courtyards to help protect pilgrims from the high temperatures in the region. The high-efficiency air conditioning system is one of those means, with the central air conditioning station covering an area of 70,000 square meters. The system includes the largest water cooling condenser in the world, featuring six chillers, each with a capacity of 3,400 tons, achieving a water cooling temperature of five degrees Celsius. It employs the latest methods and technologies for the precise, coordinated, and automated distribution of water from the station to reach 151 air treatment and distribution units.
The mosque is cooled by air pushed through pipes connected to the columns of the Prophet's Mosque, completing the water cooling cycle by returning through insulated pipes to the central station to finalize the cooling process. Additionally, there are 250 large canopies in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque, standing 15 and 14 meters high, with each canopy weighing 40 tons. They operate automatically to protect worshippers in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque from the heat of the sun and to safeguard them from the risks of slipping and falling in case of rain, alongside mist fans that help cool the atmosphere and reduce heat for worshippers, with 436 mist fans located in the courtyards.
The central mist water network is subject to continuous sterilization to ensure the quality of the water and its free from bacteria, maintaining the safety of visitors to the Prophet's Mosque.

Thassos: Heat and Light Reflector
The white marble (Thassos) covering the prayer areas in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque is characterized by its ability to reflect heat and light. It absorbs moisture through fine pores during the night, and during the day, it releases what it absorbed at night, keeping it cool even during high temperatures. There are 20,000 dispensers for Zamzam water, which can reach 22,000 during peak times, in addition to water fountains in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque and water bottles distributed to visitors throughout the mosque to provide for the guests of Allah. Furthermore, there are 250 movable canopies installed around the courtyards of the mosque in all four directions to protect worshippers from the heat emitted by sunlight and from the risks of slipping and falling during rain.
Each canopy consists of two interlocking parts, one above the other, and they align when closed. The dimensions of each canopy are approximately 25.5 meters by 25.5 meters, with a height of about 22 meters, and it weighs around 40 tons. They operate automatically with the rising and setting of the sun.

Complete Readiness for 33 Hospitals
On the security side, the police of the Medina region have mobilized all their resources to serve visitors through diligent work and staying alert to ensure the comfort of pilgrims and visitors by facilitating smooth traffic flow and movement without obstruction through continuous monitoring and effective deployment of patrols and traffic motorcycles.
The health sector in Medina has intensified its preparations to receive visitors with the readiness of 33 hospitals and permanent and seasonal health centers, in addition to mobile clinic units, serving visitors with the participation of more than 21,000 health and technical staff working around the clock to provide the best levels of medical care. The health cluster has launched a comprehensive multilingual awareness and educational campaign targeting the guests of Allah arriving in Medina, aiming to enhance health and preventive awareness in multiple languages, and activating awareness screens at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport and the Haramain High-Speed Railway Station, in addition to 109 screens within the health facilities affiliated with the cluster.
