بتوجيه من وزير الدفاع رئيس مجلس وزراء دفاع دول التحالف الإسلامي، الأمير خالد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، شارك وفد التحالف الإسلامي العسكري لمحاربة الإرهاب، برئاسة الأمين العام اللواء الطيار الركن محمد سعيد المغيدي، في فعاليات أسبوع الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة الإرهاب، المنعقد في مقر الأمم المتحدة بمدينة نيويورك.
وتأتي المشاركة في إطار جهود التحالف لتعزيز التعاون والتنسيق الدولي في مواجهة الإرهاب والتطرف، ودعم الأمن والسلم الدوليين. وأكد اللواء المغيدي أن التحالف يحرص على ترسيخ حضوره في المحافل الدولية بوصفه شريكًا فاعلًا في مكافحة الإرهاب، من خلال مجالات عمله الأربعة: الفكر، والإعلام، ومحاربة تمويل الإرهاب، والمجال العسكري، بما يسهم في بناء القدرات وتبادل الخبرات بين الدول الأعضاء والمنظمات ذات العلاقة.
وعلى هامش الفعاليات، عقد اللواء المغيدي عددًا من اللقاءات الثنائية مع مسؤولين دوليين، كما يشارك التحالف في جلسات واجتماعات تخصصية يستعرض خلالها أبرز مبادراته وبرامجه الداعمة للدول الأعضاء، مؤكدًا التزامه بتعزيز التعاون الدولي لمواجهة التهديدات الإرهابية بمختلف أشكالها.
ويُعد أسبوع الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة الإرهاب، الذي ينظمه مكتب الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة الإرهاب (UNOCT)، من أبرز المحافل الدولية المتخصصة، حيث يجمع ممثلين عن الدول والمنظمات الدولية والإقليمية والخبراء لمناقشة التحديات الإرهابية، وبحث سبل تعزيز التعاون متعدد الأطراف، وبناء القدرات، وتبادل أفضل الممارسات، ودعم تنفيذ الإستراتيجية العالمية للأمم المتحدة لمكافحة الإرهاب.
Under the guidance of the Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Islamic Coalition, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the delegation of the Islamic Military Coalition to Combat Terrorism, headed by Secretary-General Lieutenant General Pilot Rakan Mohammed Saeed Al-Muqaydi, participated in the United Nations Week for Counter-Terrorism, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
This participation comes as part of the coalition's efforts to enhance international cooperation and coordination in combating terrorism and extremism, and to support international peace and security. Lieutenant General Al-Muqaydi emphasized that the coalition is keen to establish its presence in international forums as an active partner in the fight against terrorism, through its four areas of work: ideology, media, combating the financing of terrorism, and the military domain, which contributes to building capacities and exchanging experiences among member states and relevant organizations.
On the sidelines of the events, Lieutenant General Al-Muqaydi held several bilateral meetings with international officials, and the coalition is participating in specialized sessions and meetings where it showcases its most prominent initiatives and programs supporting member states, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing international cooperation to address terrorist threats in all their forms.
The United Nations Week for Counter-Terrorism, organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), is one of the most prominent international specialized forums, bringing together representatives from countries, international and regional organizations, and experts to discuss terrorist challenges, explore ways to enhance multilateral cooperation, build capacities, exchange best practices, and support the implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
